Enjoy his holiday shows more than others. Material is more fresh and stage settings are more interesting. Just watch the language.

Another Dunham Success
Another success from Je-fah-fah Dun-HAM! This show is a bit different from shows such as 'Arguing with Myself' in that each of his puppets appears as a Halloween themed 'monster.' I won't spoil the fun by divulging which monsters appear, but they are all cleverly done. Each character is introduced with a horror movie trailer video, all fairly well done, even if they are not super funny. One nice feature on the DVD is that you have the option of playing either a bleeped or an unbleeped version of the show. This is a good feature for family viewing, as Dunham definitely peppers his shows with the f-word and other profanity. (My wish is that he would tone this part of his act down, as I think his material is hilarious enough to be funny without all the profanity.) Special features include a worthwhile outtake segment. One rather annoying aspect of this DVD is that, at least on my computer, I cannot skip forward or backward, say, if I want to view a joke a second time. You can navigate from segment to segment only. If you haven't seen any of his other shows I would start with the above mentioned show or 'Controlled Chaos'. Why? I don't know if Dunham was limited by the Halloween theme, but even though this disc is quite funny, the humor for me never reaches the inspired heights of the above three shows. But if you find those shows as hilarious as I do, you will still definitely enjoy this show. Four and one-half stars.

Pleasantly Surprised though I shouldn't be
I am a big fan of Jeff Dunham, and I own every single DVD special he has ever come out with. The last special was disappointing. Some jokes were old or reused in a different and unfunny way. I was starting to think Jeff couldn't come up with anything new. -- Then, "Minding the Monsters" came out. I nearly peed myself several times. All the jokes and stories in this special were new, fresh, and totally funny. The theme is simple -- All of Jeff's characters were given a Halloween theme that best suited them. Walter dressed as Frankenstein, Bubbja J was a One-toothed vampire, Peanut arrived in a Batmobile-type car and appeared as "Bat-nut" with Jose' Jalepeno portraying his version of Robin (which he called Reuben) as well as Peanut's dummy Little Jeff, who was dressed as the Batman villain "The Riddler" (except instead of question marks all over a green outfit, there were little L's all over because Peanut called him, 'Loser-man'), and finally Achmed the Dead Terrorist decked out in drag and trying to act like a blonde bombshell. As usual, Dunham began the show with a solo monologue of his current life and included several hilarious anecdotes about his new fiance', his daughters, and the family dog. The stage set was designed as a haunted house, and each character was presented through a movie-like trailer before being introduced on a different piece of the stage. I felt this presentation was very original, as I said before FRESH, and funnier than I expected it to be. My faith in his comedy has been renewed...

please.....give me.....a keg.....of bloodweiser....$$$Mr. Jeff dunham$$$
ladies and-a gentlemen what we have here today, is the funniest ventrioloquist comedian on the face of the earth whom can make anybody laugh, ruminate, or even cause ones jaw to drop in totalitarian fear of what happen's to man when an ex-wife loses her sense of reality over a genius whom has been in comedy since his childhood of eight years old.this is a laugh a minute show from beginning to end, non stop for a metal-headed atheist whom typically does not like black and white horror films.jeff actually made fun of the very horror films i ignored when i was a kid.we even finally get to meet his dog roadie in his shark costume and see how crankenstein was made.Mr. Jeff Dunham? you have a fan for life!!! and for doing nothing more, then being the most honest man in comedy today.little jeff looking like the joker in the 1960's tv show batman warmed my heart, which is NOT easy to do, considering how apathetic i can be sometimes.thank you again for so many years of laughter, and food for thought. you are the only presbyterian christian comedian whom plays with puppets and is seemingly a libertarian whom does NOT like a democracy...i don't blame you for a single breath of life or even a quarter of a heartbeat.you are pure gold and completely priceless.thank you sir.....may i please have another?

When a Small-Budget Comedian Gets a Big Enough Budget...
Jeff Dunham has been performing professionally since the 1980s (including more than one appearance on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson), and he's shown what you can do when you take what you love and never stop trying. Really, I think "Minding the Monsters" is the perfect culmination of drive, heart, and... let's be honest... some VERY memorable characters. The details he puts into his setwork (as you can see in the special features) is incredible, the jokes are a mixture of the old classics we all love from him and a LOT of new material, and, let's be honest, he's a very earnest person who just wants to make people laugh... in my opinion, that's why he's so successful.Watching his characters dressed as the things that scare them the most (excluding Bubba-J, who was told a redneck wearing a sheet would be a very bad idea... REGARDLESS of the fact he was trying to be a ghost), we can see he puts a LOT of thought into his characters. His work with both Walter and Achmed prove he is not at all politically correct, but only the most sensitive of people could be offended by his material. Really, I can't say enough good about this DVD... the only bad thing is that it, eventually, DOES come to an end.

Je-fa-fa does not fail to amuse.
Jeff Dunham's Minding the Monsters DVD is classic Dunham. Je-fa-fa tends to recycle material but it is always funny and always mixed with new stuff that makes it all feel new. It is entertaining for all ages, you can pick the censored version or go uncensored if you don't mind the eff word. As opposed to "regular" stand-up comedy, Jeff has created a whole story-line for his Halloween Special, complete with spooky set and outrageous costumes on the suitcase ensemble. Does not fail to amuse all around.

You can't help laughing even if you wanted to.
Jeff and the little guys in the suitcases continue to evolve and push the boundaries of their craft. You say you don't like ventriloquists. Well, you won't be able to say that anymore. You will want to have all of their DVD's.Wonderful stuff.
