2014 sophomore album from the R&B songstress. On RECOVERY, Algebra Blessett delivers a consistently sublime set that showcases the remarkable vocal and songwriting gifts that have already established the versatile, charismatic artist as one of R&B's hottest rising performers. Having already won widespread acclaim with her 2009 solo debut PURPOSE, and for her work as collaborator with the likes of Monica, Bilal, India. Arie, Esperanza Spalding and Anthony David, Algebra offers a fresh, expansive creative vision on Recovery, on which she worked with three of today's hottest urban producers: Bryan-Michael Cox, Kwame Holland and Shannon Sanders.

Can't Go Wrong with Algebra Blessett...
After waiting so many years since Purpose was released...well, let's just say the wait was well worth each & every second, minute, hour, day, week, month, year, etc! When I first heard "Nobody But You" oh-so many months ago, I went old-school & recorded it from my laptop to my cell phone! Then after ripping open the easy-access amazon envelope yesterday, I saw the track listing & thought, 'dayum, FOURTEEN tracks!? Hmmm, let's just see how many are Intro's & Outro's & In-Between-Tros'.....but noooo...the two shorties (Tracks 1 & 6) actually flowed like a musical masterpiece should, not like some kind of filler material she just threw in 'just because'...Needless to say, Algebra has a vibe all her own. As much as I love the other few female neo-soul artists out there (India.Arie, Jill Scott, Ledisi), I can't think of anyone -- past, present, or future -- to say she reminds me of.....And Recovery...well, I've only listened to it once & that was at a low volume 'cuz it was so late..still, from what I've heard, I can't pick any ONE song as an absolute favorite because the whole cd is terrific..it simply does NOT disappoint. I can't wait to get home today so I can put it on the stereo & crank it up to a bass-bumpin', heart-thumpin' level of pure enjoyment! I'm looking forward to her next one....

Therapy!
Wow... Wow and WOW! I don't know how I missed this hot fire. I'm a fan of Algebra Blessett and can't for thee life of me figure out how I didn't know about this joint. I guess the universe knew what time to reveal it to me. Definitely helped when I was a relationship head space and needed "RECOVERY!" Vocals are killer as well. Just buy it!!!

Worth the wait
If you know good music and appreciate it there is no denying that Recovery is an overall classic album. Like Algebra's first EP Purpose she tells a story. She is a natural story teller and on Recovery she tells the story of how she is recovering from heartbreak and the journey she is on to get to a "better her".I loved every track and was happy to hear Q Parker (from 112) again! My favorite songs are of course her current singles Nobody But You, Right Next To You... And songs that I really connected with-- Writer's Block, Paper Heart, Another Heartache, Better for Me, and I'll Be OK. I have been in love and felt like I couldn't recover when my heart was broken... so I get it! Algebra hit this one on the nail, because in the end we will all be ok and RECOVER from it.Glad you're back Ms. Blesset us real music lovers missed you!!

I Love Algebra!!!
Guess my title gives away my review...lol. Anyway, when I heard her first album Purpose i've been a fan. My favorite song off this album is of course "Nobody but you" I listen to it everyday to get my day started. "Right next to you" is one of my favorites too! Pretty much you can't loose. Put the album on and just let Algebra's soulful R&B sounds just take you away! I had the pleasure of recently seeing her perform and it was amazing! She has a beautiful spirit and she's very humble and down to earth which makes me love and support her even more!!! This is why I give her 5 stars! :-)

Recovery feels good
This is my second purchase of Algebra Blessett and I'm pleased. Often times an artist sophomore album is not what your expecting or at least that's been my luck in choosing to follow newer artist but she has once again produced a solid LP of feel good soul music. She has a very "Old School Jazzy" feeling.

A Hidden Treasure....
This was love at first sight and I simply fail to understand why she didn't get that much airplay. I hate that when I go kookoo over an artist and no one knows who/what I'm talking about. This one is a keeper and I'm looking forward to her showing up somewhere but so far I haven't seen anything....Please don't sleep on this one.....

welcolm back, Algebra!
Fabulous cd. I love every track on it (with the exception of the inteludes but I ALWAYS hate those). I like all of the songs, have yet to skip one, even the interludes. But my favs are "Nobody But You," "Struggle To Be," "Paper Heart," "Mystery," and the crowning jewel IMHO, "Danger Zone". That's been on a loop for a few days. Fabulous sophomore CD!!!

okay not great
I was a bit underwhelmed by this effort. After hearing the single, I thought that this had the potential to be the best female r and b release of the year. There aren't any bad songs on the album, neither are there enough really great songs to make this a superior effort. As is the case with a lot of the new female r and b releases, it seems like they do not market their albums with men being part of their audience in mind.
