As I tend to misplace my keys at the most inconvenient times, I wanted to try out a bike lock that wouldn't need a key. That led me to this lock, which can be unlocked with my phone via Bluetooth. I don't tend to lose my phone, so I figured this would be a better option in the long run. The packaging is simple, inside the box you will find the lock, a couple of stickers with QR codes (keep these) and a small instruction booklet. Per the instructions, the first thing to do is to download the "Nokelock" App from the App store (both Android and Apple are supported) and get it installed. It will require you to sign up with their service via email, and once you do that they will send you a code that is necessary to keep the account secure. It is going to ask for access to your location, photos and camera. I reached out to their customer service, and they assured me it was necessary to keep the account secured so that no one else can open your lock.Once the App is fully installed and opened, you have three different ways of adding a lock. The easiest is to use the QR code scanner, which uses the stickers that came inside of the box to automatically add it. You can use the device number that is also on the stickers and just type that in manually, or you can use Bluetooth to search nearby devices. I used all three options, and they all successfully added the lock.I should mention that before trying to add the lock to the app, or to use it after it is added, make sure to push the button on the front of the lock so that the light begins flashing red. This lets you know that the lock is on, and ready to connect. If you forget the app will remind you to do so. Once the lock is connected to the app the light stops flashing red and turns a solid blue. At that point the App will show you the lock's current battery life, with a nice big unlock button in the center of the screen. Hitting that will unlock it, and let you pull the cable end out of the lock proper.That is all you need to do. Five seconds or so after you unlock the lock, the locking pin will automatically slide back up into place. All you need to do after that is push the cable end back into the lock, and it is secured until the next time you need to unlock it. There is no "lock" option in the App (I was expecting it) as it will automatically reset itself, and it would have been nice if there was something said about it in the documentation.The lock is weatherproof and vandal resistant, and honestly if someone is going to try to defeat a cable lock it will be with bolt cutters to clip the cable itself. It has been working great in the Oregon weather, and I have had no complaints at all. While it seems quirky at first, and the re-locking mechanism is counter-intuitive, it works great and for the price I couldn't be happier.

Bought brand new. Tried to resister the lock with the app. Could not register because it said it was already owned by someone and asked if I wanted to ask for access. Not exactly reassuring getting a brand new lock, that is already registered to a person I don't know.Update: Receiving a replacement to try again. Also contacted customer support and it was prompt and courteous. Will update again when I get the replacement.

so the lock arrived and I downloaded the app, then i read the documentation, didn't make much sense when I ran the app that looked different. maybe it worked, but not the way I expected. and the way the documentation lead me to believe
