BitLock (Bluetooth Operated Bike Lock

I'd like to start by mentioning that I have spent a long time looking at all of the various options in this space (Bitlock, Noke, Skylock, etc...) and ultimately landed on this one due to its competitive price and clean, simple design. I am an IT professional and have a strong desire to incorporate technology into my every day life so i very much anticipated receiving this lock for my daily commute.The lock arrived at my door in a nice package with all the components I need (clasp to attach to bike, lock, and a chain in case I needed extra reach beyond the U). Setting up the lock was a breeze with a brief instruction manual and a companion app on my phone (tested on Nexus 5X and iPhone 6s). I tested the lock a few times on my couch and everything worked perfect with the bluetooth pairing between the lock and my phone, so i mounted the lock to my bike and got ready to ride into work the next day.This is where the problems started. I got to work the next morning and went to unlock the lock so I could wrap it around my bike and the rack when the lock would not establish a connection with my phone. I tried for 5 minutes and even opened the app on my phone (supposed to be able to keep phone in your pocket) but still no luck. Fortunately, there is a backup mechanism where you can enter a manual code on the lock and it will pop open. I locked the bike up and came back in the afternoon and this time it did establish a bluetooth connection and unlocked automatically - it was slick. Bad news is that the lock has not connected via bluetooth one time since that day. I tried using it for the past week with no luck - always having to manually override - and am at the point where I'm ready to return it.The overall design of the lock is very nice and the weight is perfect for what I expect from a u lock. The only complaint I have is that the killer feature - bluetooth lock/unlock - is not reliable enough to justify having this lock over a basic $20 u lock.

It's tempremtal unreliable and mine permanently failed and I had to use bolt cutters to free my bike.

A bike lock has to work every time or it becomes worthless. This lock periodically goes on the fritz, either not working at all (buttons won't make it operate) or quickly unlocking and relocking before I have a chance to even separate it (or, worse, relocking when it isn't put together, making it impossible to use). I tried to contact customer service to get a replacement, but my communication was simply ignored. Don't screw yourself over with this lock. Get a lock that works every time. I am really disappointed to have wasted $130 on this piece of garbage.

We bought two locks. One worked wonderfully, the other never turned on. In the end, Bitlock shipped me a new one free of charge (after a bumpy road getting a response). When all is said and done, we are happy and it looks like they have attended to some of the customer service issues that we met early on.

Nice Lock that is very sturdy. Love the idea of using my phone to unlock. Able to unlock them witha code of button sequences you program into the lock in case your phone dies. But the video states thatyou don't have to take your phone out of your pocket to unlock it. I bought 2 of these locks and the only wayit unlocks is if you open the app then push the button to unlock. I tried emailing the company that makesthese locks several times to ask them if I'm doing something wrong. Never heard back from them.

i more then anyone was looking forward to a lock like this, to be exact the NOKE lock, but i couldnt wait till august and i found this 1 grabbed it immediately and had it for about a week.one day during the week i came down the street and it randomly fell off my bike twice on the way home and it was fiddly so i decided as much as this idea is nice i need my $$$ back.... the lock falling off randomly literally can lead to some deadly situations sooo ill have 2 pass until bitlock 2.0 is ready or the noke in august

I don't usually write reviews but I really really wanted to like this product. I use my bicycle every day and wanted a lock that i didnt have to carry my key all the time with me, and that i didnt need to get my key out, unlock the lock, lock it, and then put it back on.Does it work? Well yeah sort of. If u have the app open it will always work. If it is close maybe maybe not.Cons1. It is heavy. Like quite heavy2. It has a base to be mounted on the bike but because it is sooo heavy while you bike this thing is going to fluctuate so much that it is disturbing and kind of feel likes it going to fall off3. Sometimes it unlocks when it is unlocked. No idea why4. THIS IS REALLY BAD! I was riding my bike in the middle of the street and my lock just opened by itself and fell on the ground. It almost caused me to get into an accident. I thought maybe I had left the bluetooth on, and the button because of the bumps was somehow pressed. So after that time always turned of my bluetooth on my iphone, so the lock should not be able to open right? (what kind of lock would it be if it could). Well it did!!! And it did on the street again! I mean a lock that might open by itself is not a lockI really wanted to like this lock but it is just very terrible. Hopefully the people who build it look at the reviews and improve/fix the product

I bought this for my partner for Christmas and obviously it sat around all winter because Chicago. Now it's warm and we were excited to set up this bike lock but it's completely dead and WE NEVER USED IT.
