Great and fun
Mine are still growing but I wanted to post my review early. I at first got worried that the one I got was not going to grow but after a few days in water they sprouted and fast. The instructions where clear and easy to understand. They taste amazing and I plan to buy a bunch more I still have a second grow and possibly a 3rd but they also tell you you can plant the log after your all done and the spores might grow even more outside so I will be doing that too. I’m so happy with this mushroom log.

Grows quick when it starts
In the photos you see the the growth in 4 days. From the 4th to today being the 8th. Everyday it had considerable amount of production. The oyster mushrooms tasted like I expected and were wonderful. I removed the stalk "root" part growing off the block and looks like I'm starting to get small caps for my 2nd flush! Great product and I will get another one when this is done! My house is usually 70 degrees and I watered it like crazy.

Super cool product! Mine are growing after about 4-5 days. (Instructions could use a improvement)
4-5 days after receiving I have baby oyster mushrooms sprouting! I'm a proud father! When I first got them I was confused by the instructions. I do think they could be improved a bit and it would help a lot.I'm an engineering sort so get *real* nervous about ambiguities and guesswork and I found a bit of vagueness. My main confusion was that, despite being told to at 1" of water to the tray and spray the paper towel draped over the log a couple of times a day, I wasn't sure just how damp should the paper towels actually stay at each phase. And because of temperature variations in the home or outdoors, humidity, wind factor, etc... how long things stay damp may vary. So I wanted to know what the moisture level objectives are at each stage, not just the moistening technique. Because after I gave the paper towel a couple of sprays, the towel didn't get *that* wet then dried out not too long after. That made me REALLY nervous because the instructions don't discuss any of that.At first the paper draped over the log dipped into the water in the pan and stayed wet. Intructions didn't say anything about that so I didn't know if that was good or bad. Bu then I decided from reading too wet wasn't good. Some people answered the question just to keep the towels damp. What I wound up doing was drape one paper towel over the top and front of the log, keeping the part draping over the sides of the log out of the water. Then I more loosely draped a 2nd paper towel over the back part of the first paper towel, and took a corner of the second paper towel and twisted about 2-3" of it it a 'rope' I let sit in the water in the tray. So the 'outer' towel wicks up water through the twisted 'rope' of the corner and gets damp and slowly infuses it into the underlying towel covering the opening. Both towels stay a little damp but not wet. Not spraying it. Refilling the water to 1" level in the tray as it starts to evaporate noticeably. So far so good despite 1.5 days of a *wet* paper towel covering it from wicking up too much water, and then a couple of times drying out between sprays. Apparently (at least in my case) it isn't THAT temperamental and doesn't mind a damp but not too wet paper towel constantly.

only 1 flush for me
1st flush has worked great and started within a few days. How to do the 2nd flush wasnt very clear. I attempted it anyhow. Its been 2 weeks with no results. If this is only going to produce 1 flush, not really worth it. I emailed the the email address to ask questions several times, ,but never received a response. If the seller reads this review, please respond.

Grew some huge flavorful mushrooms
Easy instructions but be patient, my kit didn't pin until almost a month passed despite me keeping the humidity up and finding a spot with indirect light all day. Then one day, I saw some tiny mushrooms and 4 days later the mushrooms were bigger than the kit. Sauted them with some butter, garlic and a bit of lions mane mushroom and they were delicious. Way better than store bought.

Seller not responsive
I generally don't like to leave negative reviews, but I did give the seller more than ample time to respond. The oyster mushroom grow kit was given to me as a gift. When I went to start the kit, I noticed that it had already sprouted from the side. The mushrooms that had already sprouted were dried and inedible. I emailed Dave's twice to report the issue. After the second email, I was told to try to sprout the kit according to the directions and that the dried mushrooms that spontaneously were not edible. I followed the directions on the kit, but there was no further growth activity. I emailed a few more times and requested that they send a new kit. I have had no further replies. I will not order from Dave's again.

Cool, creepy, and easy!!!
The instruction manual that comes in the package is a little hard to understand, so be sure to watch the tutorial video instead. But these are very easy to grow, and they grow SO FAST!Fun & practical for home chefs, but this would also be really fun for children. Time from opening the package to harvest is less than 1 week.

Worked really well — super fun!!!
Great product!! I’ve never grown mushrooms before this, and it was fairly simple to do with this. The instructions that come with it aren’t super specific, but I just read some reviews to figure out what to do. I filled a plastic bowl with about an inch of water (I used tap water filtered with my brita) and propped the open end of the log up on the side of the bowl so it was slanted in the water. I replaced it he water about every 2-3 days. I also kept a damp-not soaking wet, paper towel draped over it, and sprayed it about 3-5 times a day. I also kept it in a pretty dark spot in my house, shielded by some cardboard with a plastic bag on top, not touching the log, to trap some moisture. My first flush is almost ready for harvest & hopefully I’ll get a second! I definitely recommend this, it super fun watching the mushrooms grow more everyday.
