MOSTPLUS Ignition Distributor Compatible with Chevy GMC Pickup Truck 4.3L V6 Vortec 1996-2005 12598210

This distributor (mostplus) is actually pretty nicely made over the stock OEM unit. All terminals are brass plated, and the base is aluminum instead of plastic. I've read that people say that an aftermarket cap and rotor will not fit on this distributor, because some of the tolerances are slightly off, and that may be true, but that's irrelevant because you get the whole assembly. (cap, rotor, and cam sensor with distributor body) At only $40, that's equivalent to most cap and rotor combos from the parts stores. Also, there seems to be a going trend on here about these cheaper distributors "NOT" having the shaft alignment mark for installation. Although the alignment mark would be nice to have, it is not necessary. All you need to do is watch where your rotor tab lines up when you remove your old one and that will give you a decent reference point to position the new rotor when installing it. Honestly, it was such a tight fit installing the distributor shaft into the hole around all the wires and hoses that the little alignment mark would move on ya and get out of place anyway during installation. Heck my OEM distributor didn't even have the mark! Once again it is unnecessary, so don't be deterred just because someone says that the mark isn't there. You don't need it. Just follow proper timing procedures and you'll be fine. The alignment mark under the cap for the rotor is there, and that's all you need.And just in case your curious about my issue, my 05' silverado 4.3l V6 would idle and rev seemingly ok, but would stutter and miss terribly at cruising speeds. (like trying to hold 55) Sometimes it would run better and sometimes it would run worse. But this distributor fixed the problem. Upon inspection of the old gear on the OEM distributor, I found that about half the teeth were worn down to less than half of each tooth. Creating massive play and throwing the timing off. (see picture) The truck runs great now, no mis-firing, and no engine light. Time will tell if the $40 will bring quality with it or not. The unit looks well made and it came well packaged.(UPDATE: 3 months later)Distributor has been working with no troubles. My one complaint is that is does seem like the timing is slightly retarded. Although my truck starts and runs great, it doesn't feel like the power is quite all there. A 0-60mph test confirms that I am about 1.5 seconds slower than earlier in the trucks life, but this could be caused by many variables. It's hard to point the finger at the distributor alone. Not to say I'm disappointed! I had a rough running engine that got 14.5mpg (city), and now I have a smooth running engine that gets 19mpg (city). So even if the timing is a bit off, I'll eat the performance loss for the fuel economy improvement and engine smoothness. There is no way to adjust the timing on these distributors. Or at least, not without modifying one. You could slot out the bolt groove so you could turn the distributor, but that would mess with your cam sensor timing as well. All in all for $40.... I'm extremely happy with the results. And, if something wears prematurely a few years down the road, I will gladly buy another.*UPDATE 1-2-2022*My truck started missing firing around Thanksgiving and then a lot worse around Christmas (2021) and then just refused to start around new years. I started pulling the distributor again, thinking the gear had prematurely worn out, being Chinese steel. But after further inspection, the culprit was actually bad corrosion on the terminals. The gear looked great. So I couldn't seem to find a replacement cap and rotor for it online. So I'm just going to buy another unit at $40. That's about the same price ($35) that Autozone wants for a cap and rotor. So seems like a good buy, especially considering how old my truck is and how much longer its really going to last. Now this corrosion could just be because I live in humid Michigan with salty winters. So I dont know if I can blame the early corrosion on mostplus. But I wanted to post my finding after 2-1/2 years running this distributor. You'll have to make you own judgment on the cost compared to the longevity.

This worked great, exact fitment. Aligned correctly as the original. Time will tell how long the cap/rotor last, the body seems well made and shouldn't wear much.Also was quiet, didn't hear and grinding or other noises, unlike a different brand I tried.Tip; when eventually changing the cap, keep and use the original screws from the distributor body.

Good value

I was first skeptical about a part this low in price and having a good quality. Yet, I was wrong. Putting the new part and the old distributor side by side I could not find much difference between the two. The only thing was that the new distributor body was made out of aluminum and not the composite material like the old one. Have a good feeling that this was a good choice in parts.

This distributor I installed on April 2022. It worked for a bit less then 13 months.

Well made unit however cap,rotor, and cam sensor will need replaced!!! Rotor lasted an hour cam sensor had to be replaced rite away and cap had crack I'm it

I believe to be good price for good quality part. I saw no defects. Part has weight and durability. Somewhat ease to install. Make sure your oil pump stick is lined up in position with the time shaft placement.
