Review: Normally Open - When you add a low voltage DC current (fraction of an amp @ ~12V) to the one set of pins on the bottom, the switch will close, allowing AC current (rated to 250V; obviously can be used with 120V appliances) through the contacts. The large contacts on top pair with the other set of contacts on the bottom. My dehumidifier, which had been a workhorse for years, had been making this weird noise and I realized that the compressor was staying on even after the fan had turned off. Just had to replace the old matching relay on the board with this one and everything is as good as new (taking it apart was a pain, but it needed a good interior cleaning anyway). I read that lots of dehumidifiers break after a year or so, so I figured the one I had was a gem and didn't want to replace it. From my research, it seems that this same part is used in lots of different dehumidifiers and small AC units. I had an option to change the board itself and was able to find this relay by searching the part number on Amazon.
