BaldwinSpyglass, Single Cylinder Front Door Deadbolt Featuring SmartKey Re-key Technology and Microban Protection, in Venetian Bronze

Bought these for a house we acquired and they seem to be excellent quality, lock/unlock smoothly, easy installation, and LOVE the rekey feature to change keys without replacing the locks! My only wish is that you could order them (ex: handle sets, deadbolts, etc) all keyed the same so you could have multiple extra keys that are alike since you throw away keys once you key them alike (and replacement Baldwin key blanks are not cheap for getting extras). Excellent quality and home security and glad I ordered them!

I absolutely love the look and security of Baldwin locks. The product arrived fast and was packaged well. Comparable pricing to home repair box stores without standing in line or pandemic exposure. Great valueThe ability to self rekey is the biggest bonus. I use the feature when I have house guest or house sitter keys given out. It’s also great for rental and AirBNB lock changes. Super easy to do.Definitely added peace of mind in a stylish way.

It is exciting to see Baldwin licensing Kwikset’s Smartkey technology to use in their Prestige Series locks. It won’t be able to use the traditional C-Keyway that Baldwin has been using for many years, rather instead this Prestige Series uses KW1 keyways. So this lock cannot be re-keyed to match other Baldwin keys that may still be in use, but It can be re-keyed to match Kwikset keys. It is important know this one limitation before purchasing.The price point on the deadbolt is favorable compared to other popular manufacturer’s. Baldwin has always been a premium price over most of the competition. It does appear that the quality of the lock is also more on par with the competition. It doesn’t have quite the heft and mass of their other handcrafted series. However with that being said it does have an excellent finish and good looks.The deadbolt took me longer to install than normal. It has a dual rod turning system that I was not used to. The keyed cylinder is lower down on the exterior mount and the D-rod coming out of it actually goes underneath the throw bolt. It then mates up with the interior portion of the deadbolt and thru a gear system turns another rod that is the one that turns the throw bolt. I think this design gives you more leverage and makes key turning a bit easier. I found it didn’t turn well until both sides were lined up and the 2 mounting screws firmly tightened. Afterwards it was easy to throw the deadbolt.All the hardware was included that is needed to install the deadbolt. The look and function is great. I really like the large key head of the Baldwin keys. It makes them easier to use besides looking very nice. Given the competitive price point and the Baldwin name, I would recommend this lock if you like the design. I have found it to be very good quality in aesthetics and function. The squared off design and simple lines of the Torrey Pines Series looks really good with Craftsman and Shaker Styles. I would have given it 4.5 stars if I could but I’m going to round up.

I had a locksmith install mine and can't say if they're easy to install, but he did say that the was something a little different about it--I wish I could remember what that thing was!Smooth mechanism, and the solidity of the handle really gives a feeling of satisfaction of having purchased something of good quality.

got this to replace a competitors lock that that had failed twice, two separate locks not two problems. The lock seems very sturdy. The design is nice. The external piece has a low enough profile that it would not interfere with a screen door if you wanted to have one. The low profile presents less of a profile to a hammer blow compared to the typicalround deadbolts that stick out.Would buy again.

Definitely a product you have to read the instructions for, of course having keys when you finish would be great. Now we stuck home until we get something to replace it with. Ridiculous

Been purchasing Baldwin door knobs and dead bolts for 30 years. This dead bolt is not small or slim. It is large and thick. darn.
