A little thin, not a high quality fabric but does the job. I put in on and I can but my hood over it and gives.me.a.nice brim for the rain. They don't look like much but do the job.

the hat is a great substitute.
It works just as well as an umbrella. When my hands are full and taking an umbrella is a bit much, the hat is a great substitute.

My husband says this is tough to wear because it falls off and also changes shape. But he likes that it keeps him dry.
