There had been a long extended period where I was unable to walk or walk properly and needed to use these things. The ones given to me by the hospital seems flimsy and thin and toppled far too easily combined with a lid that didn't stay on if you knocked it over. What's the point of even having a lid in those cases! I also bought what I thought was a quality unit locally and it had some of the same problems I just described as the one from the hospital. THIS MODEL though is sturdy and feels confident in your hand and has a lid that seals it very well even if you knock the thing over. You will probably want to get a bottle brush to clean it properly because just rinsing it out it will get funky pretty quickly but that is not a drawback the bottle Construction just the nature of the Beast.

After getting two I ordered five more. Very sturdy, no leaking, and a smooth edge that will not cut you. Just what I wanted.

I tried other Urinals. the Carex Male Urinal is the best. Others were not so easy to clean with a bottle brush. They had a shape that was difficult to access with the brush. The Carex is a simple shape with no bends or difficult corners. It is also made of a thicker plastic than others I have tried. As a Prostate sufferer I have to urinate frequently during the night. I keep the Carex Urinal Bottle next to my bed. It is a friend that I take with me if I am on a trip away from home. I never travel with out it. This bottle is sturdy except the little thingie that holds the lid and keeps it from falling off. That was the first thing that broke. Had to tie a string around the lid to tether it to the bottle. The lid fits securely to the bottle and prevents spillage. Bottle is thicker than other containers that I've used.

This urinal has a flaw that really p***es me off. Some of them aren’t sealed at the handle while all of them have a vent in the handle. Urine leaks into the handle, then escapes through the handle vent. Whether the buyer gets a good one is a gamble. Good ones get five stars, faulty ones zero stars.

We have found this to be the best value for the money. They are very sturdy, clean lines without a lot of ridges that have sharp edges and collect dirt. They fit nicely in the sink for rinsing out after use unlike othe brands we tried. My handicapped brother uses this at night when lying in bed and while seated in a wheel chair during the day. He does not use the lid so we don't know about how spill proof it is.
