DIRECTV Backlit RF and IR Remote RC71B

This remote paired right up with my DIRECTV DVR and lit right up. As soon as it paired with the receiver, I followed the instructions on screen and programmed it to the TV within a few minutes everything was working perfectly, and has been for a few weeks now.

I should have bought this remote 3 years ago when we first switch to the RF/IR Genie system. The remote is just like the regular remote only it has the backlight feature.We only use the Radio Frequency (RF) output of the remote and not the Infrared (IF) output. So far it has worked flawlessly just like the remote that shipped with my genie system.My only issue is the backlight button on the side of the remote is a little hard to use. But if you press any button on top of the remote, the backlight will come on. So it’s not that big of an issue.

This remote is exactly like the one from Directv.It lights up and is so easy to use!

I bought this remote as a replacement to my old remote i received with my genie a couple of years ago. I would have to say I have good and bad things to say about this remote.Pros: Smaller and easier to hold. Great backlit light to see in the dark what buttons you are pushing. A great click feedback to hear you are pressing on the buttons firmly.Cons: Some buttons you cannot see or are too small with the light, for instance, you cannot see the record or red circle button in the dark. Back light is not long enough and tends to flicker every time you press a button. Some of the other buttons are too small, such as the previous and back 10 seconds button. The response is a little slow sometimes for input on buttons.Overall a great product, I would recommend this remote to anyone who is tired of trying to figure what button is which in the dark. I am very pleased I bought this remote.

Nice to have a backlit RC71. Been using a regular RC71 for over a year with an HR-44 Genie (DirecTV HD-DVR). I like this one better for 3 reasons:1. They keys are not mush like the original non-backlit RC71. Tactile feedback is excellent.2. There is an audible "click" when the keys are pressed, giving auditory feedback, as well.3. The back-light works as expecterd.Here is a hint on how to properly program the RC71 to an HR44 Genie...the on screen instructions do not work very well, these do:DirecTV RC71 Remote: Programming A New RC71 and linking audio to a Home Theater Amplifier1. Set Factory Default: a. Press and Hold Mute and Select Until Two Green Flashes b. Press 98111111 (keep hittin 1's until Green Flash Remote is Now Fully Reset. 2. Navigate to the remote control settings and choose RF a. Ignore the screen commands and instead press and hold MUTE and ENTER, keep holding it and the screen will change and give a Menu to Program the Remore. (TV, Audio Amp, Lock Audio) b. Program the TV first! Samsung UNC60400SFZX (insert your TV's model in place of mine) c. Program the Onkyo 2nd: Onkyo TXSR605 (insert your home theater or skip this step) d. Lock Audio to the Onkyo (skip this step if you are using your TV's speakers and not Home Theater Amp) Done!

I bought this remote because it glows in the dark. It was extremely easy to set up, fits comfortably in your hand, has soft touch keys and meets all my direct tv needs. It is light weight and uses two double A batteries and because it is white it is easy to find when you need it. The keys do not illuminate until you touch them so that it minimizes battery usage. It has a convenient on/off button for the light if for any reason you want to disable that feature.

We had worn out our old remote. This replacement was an upgrade to a backlit version. Easy to set up, it works and looks great.

I ordered this because it is advertised as backlit remote, so I can use in dark room at bedtime.The unit works fine, but is NOT BACKLIT
