bought this lock following a spate of break ins in garages near did not want to have to drill into my garage so these sorts of locks were what I needed this was very reasonable in price was a little hesitant but went ahead and ordered one this was dispatched same day and delivered the next fitting was very easy no big holes to drill only 4 8mm holes to hold the rawl bolts the lock is a bit tricky to affix but it is a very strong lock so may try a slightly smaller one to facilitate easy locking overall very pleased with my purchase

Pros: Quality built product. Sturdy with solid welds and, from inspection, the powder coating is thick and should survive some abuse. I'm confident that the core product would reduce the chance of opportunistic thieves gaining access to garage. Installation was simple with the correct tools, and delivery was quick.Cons: The only drawback is the supplied padlock. Considering how durable the core product feels, its a shame that the supplied lock isn't up to the same standard. That being said, I ordered two units for my double garage and the two locks were keyed the same which was a nice touch.Verdict: Definitely buy the product - this item is cheaper than the alternative branded product and in my opinion, better made, safer and more durable - just spend a few extra quid and buy a better quality padlock.

Happy with this purchase, the product is well made, easy to install (power tools required and some DIY skills) comes with screws and a padlock. Would have liked the base plate to be a bit thicker but for the price is very sturdy. Delivery was delayed but this is DPD fault not seller.

Great product and really well made. I was worried after reading the reviews the the lock wouldn’t be any good, I happy to say the lock is great it just needs a good oiling before use. The only thing I think should change on the product is a slightly longer base plate. Or a way of fixing the front of the plate to the front if the floor is a little in even. But all in all it’s a great product.

Great product, fits perfectly, slight criticism is the quality of lock bsupplued but it does what it is meant to.

I ordered this product because it seemed good value and the ends of the tube that sits against the garage door are welded closed so you cant slide a long bar into the ends of the open tube and break the lock by levering the the garage defender upwards but there are some glaring errors in the production of this garage defender.1. The shackle that is welded to the base plate has a weld around it to fix/weld it to the base plate so the manufacturers have fitted a second plate to the garage defender part with a recess so the weld from the base plate can sit flush against the garage defender to stop the the garage defender rocking on the weld, this does not work as the recess is not deep enough and the garage defender rocks slightly on the base plate because it makes contact with this weld.2. The shackle that is welded to base plate has been cut/manufactured with an acute angle towards the garage door which means when the garage defender is fitted and padlocked to the base you can pull the garage defender backwards and up about 10 to 15mm from the garage door enabling you to slide a bar etc between the garage door and the garage defender, if they had made this shackle part square at both ends this would stop you being able to pull/slide the garage defender backwards away from the garage door.3.The base plate mounting bolts are awful they will not tighten fully and the inserts in the garage floor don't grip and just spin before they are fully tightened.4.The black spur lock provided is cheap and does not feel like a quality plus the key stuck a few times while trying to use it so I replaced it.To sum up, a cheap garage defender that should have been tested more and the easy to fix problems addressed at the production stage before it was sold to customers.

Very solid garage door defender and property fabricated! All fixing anchor bolts are on the other side of the door (inside), plate is solid with well welded ring for the lock and it is protected by the top plate. Have installed it right up to the door with no gap and door can be opened with no problems after removing defender. The only thing that left the good product down is the padlock which is probably supplied by the Poundland and do not work properly, jammed constantly in the half way round... I would recommend to change supplier to the Home Bargains store they have a basic disc padlock for 2.99£ that at least works. So you have to throw supplied lock away and buy a decent one to match defenders security level otherwise whole protection sistem is compromised!

Fast delivery (much quicker than stated) works a treat and very easy to install. Saved me around 50GBP on the nearest equivalent from local retailers.
