This is a great product but let down a bit by the product description as we were unsure exactly how it workedIt is tin plate construction and well made. It has a clockwork mechanism (it comes with a separate key to wind it up with) and will travel about 3 or 4m on one wind, (if you don’t want the string line - included- to be as long as this, just shorten it and it just seems to run to the end and then stop (or of course you could just do a few less turns when you wind it). It has an on/off lever so you wind it up, hook it on the line then click the lever over to ‘on’ and off it goes. It will only travel in one direction, so you can’t reverse it to via the mechanism to come back the other way, instead you need to either take it off the string line and turn it around or just slide it back along the string line to the start.I think it is scaled at around 1:43 so O gauge in train terms. It’s not a toy as such (H&S no doubt) but our young son found it great fun and it’s a credit to the manufacturers, well designed, well built and we suggest good value.

Couldn't be more pleased!It's in the living room and everyone gets a go when they visit.I like to just sit and look at it, it's like a real, cute little cable car up there.

Well made and authentic looking! Reminded me of skiing - very Christmassy!

The gift hasn't been given as a Christmas present yet but I can see it is sturdy and beautifully made!

The cable car is made of tin and feels solid like the older style toys you used to get. Great addition to my sons bedroom.
