As a former competitive gymnast I have been dealing with back pain since I was 14 (I threw my back out tumbling). I'm 30, physically active and fit - so back pain really destroys me when it's bad. I bought this wheel and the larger wheel and I honestly I love them both. I have literally every gadget for back pain (Tens Unit [which I love], foam rollers, a Thumper massager [which I also love], a yoga swing for decompression, the backnobber, Lumo Lift, etc.). They all serve a different purpose and the yoga wheels are hands down the best at stretching and realigning the spine, not to mention releasing tension. I hold a great deal of my stress in my shoulders and often throw out my lower back because of misalignments. The bigger wheel is fantastic for stretching and getting some movement into stiff areas of the spine and the smaller wheel, this one (the Plexus) is really great for deep tissue spot on pressure release. It provides deep pressure on the knots in my back (I use on my butt and thighs as well, it's heaven after a run) and gives me some release in between massage appointments. It does a great job of opening up the tension in my shoulders. I highly recommend this for that purpose. I wouldn't use it as sitting back support as someone else mentioned, that seems silly, especially since there are specific products for that.I also travel a lot for work so I take the small one (this one) with me when I travel to release tension from the plane ride. I don't fly without it anymore. Seriously do yourself(and you back) a favor and get one of these wheels! The larger one is better if you're sensitive to deep pressure.

A bit more focused- some might think ~too~ focused- than your typical back roller. If getting your back to pop is your thing, this model will do the trick. How “therapeutic” it’s been for me is debatable, but I use it several times a week, so I must like it (along with a traditional roller, ‘S’ knot massager and other things. Hint to those wanting a great shiatsu tool- get yourself one of those plastic coated dumbbells with the cornered hexagonal ends, ideally a 3lb or so. Roll on that puppy between your shoulder blades. You’ll thank me.

I wanted it to work because the commercial and cracking noise of the hard to reach places really lured me. But after trying it, it really just hurt my back more. It's not designed for humans maybe a robot with a flat back but def not good for the average person you could honestly and seriously hurt yourself. You've been warned. Buy a yoga ball instead trust me

Holy cow this thing hurts! I read a few reviews saying it hurt people's backs, but I figured they were wimps, as I do a lot of deep tissue work and can take a lot of pain. So I'm either a massive wimp, or I don't have enough body fat to cushion this wheel from causing more pain than I thought possible. I was hoping it would pop my back and keep me aligned, but instead I just got bruises and pain. I returned it and the people were super nice, but OUCH!

No dude this thing is amazing. We ordered the set of three and even the gentle one was agony for about 2 weeks but stick with it!!! Your muscles will open up and align and you’ll get a dozen cracks regularly on the small wheel in due time. It’s phenomenal.

This is a nice wheel for my back work. I have a larger wheel as well but I found that my back is not ready for the larger wheel. This one doesn't overstretch my back like the large one did causing lower back pain.
