Great Room Warmup - function meets fashion
We live in an open concept ranch home. This open concept room … this great big room … is on the north side of the house and gets c-c-c-c-cold in the cooler months. To heat this “Great Room” (and it *is* a great room - I love the kitchen, dining and living area all together) stays 5-10 degrees colder than the rooms at the back of the house. I’m not willing to set the thermostat to 80 just to heat the Great Room. Over the past 10 years I have tried a variety of ways to make this room more comfortable in winter. I’ve had varying luck with different sized radiant heaters, and finally found a “fake fireplace” radiant heat large piece of furniture for around $300 that worked OK for several years. Until it didn’t.I was unwilling to spend another $300 for something that “kind of” worked and took up so much floor space so I started searching Amazon. I’d settled on trying an oscillating tower heater when Vornado brand popped up as a suggestion. Read some of the reviews then went to “encyclopedia Google” to research more on the company’s website. I was impressed! And a 5-yr warranty — even better. So I popped back on Amazon to determine which Vornado heater I wanted and found this lovely item that could actually be a relic from my childhood! All metal construction and no bells and whistles! I’ve had intermittent luck with temp-sensing heaters and the remotes sometimes do and do not work. I was hesitant to purchase because of the high $$ but I am very, very pleased with the purchase. Now my functional heater looks attractive on the shelf, *fits* on the *shelf*, AND blends in with my Art Deco style. We get up in the morning and turn this stud on “high” then shower. By the time we get to the kitchen for coffee, the Great Room has warmed up from 66 to 70 degrees! We turn the fan to low and sit in comfort at the kitchen table. The fan is noisy on high but can barely be heard on low. We turn off the fan over the day but turn it on first thing when arriving home. Another 1/2 hour on high and the Great Room is warmed up again. This time of year we’ve turned it off after an hour or so on low because it actually gets too warm in the Great Room. I’m hoping it’s able to handle our sub-zero winters in Nebraska, but time will tell.Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase and don’t mind the inconvenience of the analog system without temp control. My husband likes the function so much he bought a Vornado for the “man cave” in the basement, temperature-sensing off course so he can stay focused on the football game. I’m hoping it lives up to the hype and lasts a l-o-n-g time.

Thermostat issues at 11 months
Love the design, size, and initial feel of a high quality product. However at the 11 month mark, the thermostat is all over the place. Using in our baby’s room to keep her cozy, but thermometer is saying 72-87 using a single setting on the heater. Not happy

Exceptionally well built
The unit is particularly well built. All of the materials are top notch. The gauge of the metal of the cowling is good and strong. And the design is beautiful. As described it has two power settings which are moderated by its control dial allowing good control of its heat. There does not appear to be any mechanism by which the fan alone may be engaged. The amount of heat it is capable of is excellent. With the strength of the fan to move it through the room it does well and quick work of it. As a personal note, the feeling of the warm air off of the fan is very pleasant on a cold night. Some reviews I'd read before buying it had mentioned a smell. The coils of the heating element have a metallic scent when they heat up. I have not had the device long enough to know if it will fade in time or not. It's not a bother to me in any event, but if you are reading this and you were curious, it is there. And you will notice it. But the function overshadows any such point.Overall, it's an exceptionally well built device and I am I chose this model. I hope this review is of help to someone.

Toasty and Well Made
Sometimes it makes me wonder how some people have great experiences with products, and others don't. We've had the Vornado Vintage Metal Heater for over a year and it is quiet and efficient. We use it in a 27' travel trailer, which is like a small room so the usage doesn't compare to someone with a large bedroom and high ceilings, but in an RV it works great! This little guy gets stored during travel and pulled out on nights when it's down in the 30's to upper 40's. It will not heat up the trailer quickly if it's already freezing inside, but will retain the temp once the furnace gets things warmed up. Basically, it helps to cut back on propane use when you have shore power available for your RV. On the high setting you'll find it can get too warm. The simple thermostat knob will get it dialed in to keep you comfortable. This fan works very well to meet our needs.

Weak heat output but cute
Really torn about whether to keep or return this. The retro styling is cute and unique. And I like that it's relatively small and easy to take on the subway with me to work. But it throws out a lot less heat than my other space heater (an Infrared Dr. Heater). Then again, my other heater is much larger -- it's like a small piece of furniture on wheels -- and less stylish. When this Vornado is on "high," it's pretty loud, and throws a lot of air, since it's literally a heated fan. I'm not looking for the feeling of air blowing on me, I'm really just looking for heat, so this isn't ideal. But when I put the Vornado on "low," it's nice and quiet but doesn't throw much heat. If I leave it on "low" all day, it provides enough heat to keep me OK in my little home office (a corner of my bedroom). I'm trying to decide if that's good enough. With my other space heater, I would turn it on for short bursts of heat, then turn it off when I got too hot. I had the option of having it on low all day, but never seemed to want that. When I'm cold, I want to be warmed up as quickly as possible, I guess. Anyway, I'm seeing if I can get used to a new way of using my space heater -- on at all times, on low, rather than for short bursts of heat -- and feeling like I may come around to this new way of thinking about using a space heater. It is very cute, though I got the off white and don't love it as much as I thought I might -- I think if it were white, it would look better. It kind of looks old and dingy in the off white color. I'm thinking about exchanging this for the turquoise color. That may be where I land in all this. We'll see. OK, end of novel.

Funcionalmente no parece tener fallas.

Great little room heater!
Bought this heater for my home office which is in the furthest room of the house away from the furnace... so it does get chilly in there. Super impressed with this little heater; it heats up the space quickly and has an adjustable thermostat dial on the back for how often you want it switching on. The lower fan speed is quiet enough for me to not worry about it kicking in when I'm on the phone while it's only 4 feet away. Also, for anybody that plays video games, it has a great Fall-out 4 vibe to it ;)

Great Heater
Love the vintage look. Heats a small room great but takes longer for a bigger room. All in all, so far so good.

DO NOT BE FOOLED!! x2
I bought two of these, and I wish I'd read the reviews before I did... I have had EXACTLY the same experience as three other purchasers; it worked great for twelve weeks, then a horrible burning smell, the low setting stopped, the switch became almost impossible to move, and even the orange light stopped working. Like others, I am now AFRAID to use this deceiving piece of junk. Now I am just waiting to see if the second one I bought does the same thing. Vornado should issue a full recall and refund for both..... without question, these heaters should work for more than twelve weeks, without exhibiting all the the signs of an immanent fire, especially considering their high-end price!!Addendum: Here it is Jan.03-2024 and the second heater just fried itself up as did the first one!

Fantastic heater
This is a fantastic little heater. It works well, doesn't dry out the room, can be regulated to produce heat at different frequencies. And it has a lovely retro look
