Great design, easy for high-shelf plants
This is a great design and works very well in an office setting. Yes, you could do a DIY SIP system, and build your own platform, watering tube, and even a gauge with a styrofoam or cork float (I've done this), but, for all that work and time, you might save $9.00. Save your DIY efforts for bigger systems, and just buy this for your smaller plants. This is easy--the office plants seem to like it, it holds quite a bit of water, it is lightweight and watertight (so no spilling), and the gauge works pretty well.People complain about the gauge, but I've had no problems. Since the gauge is simply a cork float, I can see that, if a little organic matter dries to it, it might stick to the side occasionally. Just flick it, or wiggle it a bit, and it will float just fine. For the high shelf that plants have to sit on in the office, this is a great choice. I can fill the water reservoir standing on a step-stool below the plants and watch the gauge go up without ever having to take the plants off the shelf. It is lightweight, so I am not hauling a heavy terra-cotta pot down when I need to attend to the plant. And, no leaking. My only complaint is: Why does every company think they need to stamp their name on every item they manufacture. It would be so much better without the name on it. I covered the name with white electrical tape but I'd be so much happier if I could somehow remove the name altogether..

An awesome choice for forgetful plant parents!
I've only recently started keeping plants, and I tend to be forgetful when it comes to watering. More than one leafy friend has met its demise in my apartment. Not wanting my macabre history to repeat, I decided a self watering pot would be a good idea for my first venture into mindful plant parenting. This pot comes in a few different pieces, but the assembly was super simple. The pot also came with a soil "disk" that you put into a bag (which they've also provided) with some warm water and then you use that soil to pot the plant. Add some water to the bottom of the pot until the level indicator reaches "max", and congratulations - you've just potted a plant!I give all the credit to this planter for the fact that Maurice (my fiddle leaf fig) is not only alive, but thriving. I know the soil is good, and if I forget to water Maurice for a few bit, I know he's not going to dry out and die on me. I'm so happy with this purchase, and I definitely plan on buying a few more for some other plants I've got now!

Good planters.
EDIT 07/22/2017: Despite what I said in my original review, I still had to place those planters outside and, so far, the colors have not faded and the sunlight doesn't seem to have damaged the hard plastic. They are doing good and they look good but I still don't like the gimmicky water gauge.I found another reason to like these: I have them in several colors, I like to match the color of the pots to the plants in them, and with these I can just switch the liners between planters without having to replant everything in a new pot.Original review: I like these planters, I have purchased quite a few in a variety of sizes and colors, but they do have flaws that may prevent me from buying them again in the future. Here are my thoughts:- First, I love the kind-of-square shape and the modern colors.- The hard plastic they are made of is nice and sturdy, doesn't bend, and makes it easy to move the planters while they are full. They have not been outside tested, though, they will remain inside planters for me.- The coco fiber pellet it comes with seems good quality and, so far, my plants are not complaining. It does become nice and fluffy when mixed with water, but those pellets are inconsistent when it comes to the amount of coco fiber it makes once fluffed. I have gotten different amounts with each pellet that were included in each of the 7" planters I bought. Coco peat naturally does not contain nutrients to support plant growth so I make sure to mix the pellets with a mix of fertilizer for each of my plants' needs.- The water gauge thing is a gimmick and it adds nothing to the planter. It looks spiffy but that's about all it does. As I poured water into the planter, the white stick only went halfway up inside the gauge before the liner inside the planter was floating in excess water.- The liner is a great asset, however, that other self watering planters do not have. Since the standing water inside the planter develops a foul odor after a while, it is easy to take the liner out to replace the water with fresh water that does not smell. Planters which just have space at the bottom for self watering can easily create rot because it is impossible to replace the water without removing all the dirt first.Overall, I do like those planters, and I would recommend them, but I feel they are a little too pricey. I would definitely purchase them if they were cheaper, maybe if they didn't have that water gauge thing they could be sold cheaper.

Works well!!
I replanted an orchid in this pot last week, and everything looks great so far! I used to add ice cubes to my orchids once a week (if I remembered). Sometimes the orchids would look great, while other times they would look pretty bad. My orchid looks great since replanting in the new planter, and it takes the guesswork out of knowing whether I am watering correctly. I used a couple of the smaller pots from the same brand to replant smaller orchids and a pretty sad looking tomato plant seedling that my daughter brought home from school. They are all looking much improved from last weeks’s replanting- even the tomato plant! Setting up the planter was super easy and the instructions were well written and easy to understand.

Simply amazing product at a great value
I’m very happy with this purchase. I was a little concerned that the plastic would look cheap as I traditional use ceramic pots but it looks great. More importantly, the product is well made (not flimsy) and my plant seems to be adjusting to the “fiber” soil and unique watering method very well. I purchased one pot as a trial and I plan to order more.Update: I can’t say enough positive things about this product that I ordered 4 more containers. Not only is it convient that watering is spread over a longer period of time, more importantly my plants seem to be thriving in the container. They are greener, sending out new growth, & have no more dried leaf tips.
