Did not work in my car
The adapter just kept unrecognizable and did not connect with my phone S8+. I had to return it. On-off switch did not solve the issue. I might have got a defective unit? I have no idea.

Good tool to have for your car!
Instructions given were pretty easy to follow. Product works as described and returns accurate results. Easy to plug into car and download app to phone for use.

Five stars!
This is a great unit. I have a much more expensive one that I carry with me. This one I will put in my motor home and use my android phone or tablet to monitor the rigs performance values. It works just like my more expensive scan tool and this one is a no-hand operation tool once it is set up.

I bought this mainly to clear some of the error codes that had appeared long ago when the check engine light came on. I knew what the original problem was and had since fixed it. I just needed to clear the codes so that the check engine light would not light up. Well, it worked to do that. Unfortunately, I ended up getting a lot more than I bargained for.I had just left the unit plugged in for a few days, since I wanted to test it out with some of the Android software that I had downloaded. It took a few days, but eventually very weird things started happening to my car. The first thing that I noticed was that the car stereo suddenly stopped working. It was the original factory installed unit and had always worked before. It started flashing some sort of error message every time I tried using it though. I didn't really connect that in my head with the BT adapter still being plugged in.The next day I noticed that my speedometer had stopped working entirely and that my fuel gauge was acting erratic. I finally put 2 and 2 together and removed the BT adapter. The car stereo starting working as soon as it was removed. No more error message from the stereo of any kind. It now works just as it had in the past.Unfortunately, my speedometer still does not work at all and my fuel gauge bounces up and down every time I go over a pothole it seems. Neither of these had ever acted up prior to using this adapter. I'm still waiting to take my car into the shop to see if this can be repaired. I am not too happy about how this product screwed my car up though.

I wanted to be the one to do this all by myself and since I don't know a lot about cars and have never actually worked on one before I tested this as a complete novice and at first I was kind of lost at first but I popped the disk in and downloaded the program and plugged the device in. Within a few minutes we knew exactly what was wrong with my 99' Ram. Nobody could figure it out and it's so pretty I love it and I just didn't want to sell it.The problem was actually 2 things combined and it mimicked a completely different (and expensive/hard) problem and the fix was only a $42 fix and much easier than we thought it would be since we were WAY off on the actual problem. If not for this device it would still just be sitting there collecting rust and I would have spent a LOT of money on the wrong problem. Even if you have never used one before it's not too hard to figure out and most anyone can use this program/device. Based on my experience with it, it's a winner.. 4 stars! I'm actually shocked that something this inexpensive works this good.

Works only intermittently
After trying multiple OBD apps, as well as double checking my settings for my phone, I am quite certain that this device simply loses connectivity from time to time. At various times it would just cut out. I checked my bluetooth settings, the app, etc. Everything else was fine. I would try to see if the OBD device was turned on but when I tapped the power button the power button would light up for a second and then not do anything (there are a couple activity lights that let you know that it's on and broadcasting. I would have to turn off the car completely, turn it back on and power on the OBD device.Pretty pointless for monitoring over any length of time, and it would cut out unexpectedly sometimes after only a few minutes. Not even worth $20, something tells me if you want a quality OBD wireless device you are probably better off paying a bit more for one instead of trying to go cheap. Also most of the free OBD apps are kind of eyesores... but they are really handy with generating reports (the software side of this is pretty handy! but that's not what one pays for with this type of thing).
