Sabretooth

If that sounds like your thing - basically the genre of cheap creature features with bad CGI that eventually led to Sharknado - this will do the trick.Really a 3 star movie but it gets an extra star for Gimli and Sawyer.

I knew it was a B-movie when I started watching it....it is actually pretty good with a good story line....the sabertooth is vicious and I could just slap it's Creator, Catherine... she gets her just desserts for creating such a monster in the end!!!!

This movie is one of those old SyFy Channel movies. The cheese factor is present for sure. What is also present is a lot of fun. The cast is game for this creature feature, and help carry this preposterous thing along. The special effects leave a lot to be desired, but that is part of the appeal. This movie is up front about what it is. A low budget creature feature. Sit back and enjoy.

This is a retro creature feature. If you like those kind of movie, you will like this This plot is well done, the actors take their roles seriously and the scenery is quite nicejudge it for what it is, not for what you want it to be and you will enjoy it

It is about what one would expect in a low budget sci-fi film, but immediately it insults viewers. No lab ever has colored glass containers like in the lab in the opening scenes, but set designers who have never seen a lab seem to think that is how it should be. They want visuals.The two main characters are supposed to be training new guides in a two week course, but did no one ever do any actual hiking in the mountains? I could fill a book with all the flubs shown but it is clear to me that no one has ever hiked or camped. Nor did any of the crew figure out that perhaps they needed some advice in staging the scenes. For instance, in one scene Anthony remarks on how heavy the one pack is, then proceeds to sling it over his one shoulder and walk merrily along.And the scientist, Catherine, took much too long for her demise. But she certainly came across as totally immoral in pursuit of her goals.My guess is that the close face shots were of a puppet, as the farther away shots were really amateur CGI tries. The tiger became all soft and fuzzy and ashen.The movie is simply too sloppily done to merit three stars which is often given to a typical B movie, understanding that they don’t have a large budget. But for this movie, two stars is generous.

Badly animated cartoon cat with huge tooths attacks a bunch of ignorant california libtards including a hooker wanna be, military wanna be, and a pair that want-to-do-it but don't. Ending should have had the sabre tooth mated with a mountain lion (oh so beautiful in the one scene she was in) and little sabre toothed hybrids on the loose. Almost as bad as a loose tooth this flick.

Ok, so I'm going to be honest. Sabretooth isn't an Oscar-Worthy cinematic masterpiece. I'm not even sure if this movie would even be eligible for a Razzie Award, but it is a great cheesy movie that is good for some laugh and lots & lots of eye rolling. I saw this movie on the Sci-Fi Channel years ago and ended up sitting through the whole movie. As cheesy as it is, it has an ok storyline, will give you some laughs, and is actually kind of fun. You know how sometimes you just want to chill with a friend ir spouse and watch a cheesy & ridiculous horror flick? Well, this is that flick. It is actually watchable and it's storyline and terrible computer graphics will hook you & you will watch the whole movie.

Abseits jeden Schwachsinns, was Asylum uns zuhauf vorsetzt, ist 2002 dieser sehr klassisch angehaucht Tierhorror erschienen. Ein Säbelzahntiger flüchtet aus einem Labor in die Bergwelt, wo gerade eine Gruppe von Camper unterwegs ist. Bald wird einer nach dem anderen von dem Monster verspeist. Bald macht sich die böse Wissenschaftlerin Catherine sowie der Großwildjäger Bob auf die Suche nach dem Tier.Der Film ist für sein geringes Budget (es ist halt eine TV-Produktion) echt gut gelungen, was vor allem an den Darstellern, die alle ihre sache sehr ernst genommen haben, sowie an der wunderschönen Bergwelt, die sehr schön eingefangen wurde, was zur sehr Atmoshphäre des Films beiträgt, liegt. Von den Darstellern ist mir besonders positiv die aparte Vanessa Angel in der Rolle der bösen (?) Wissenschaftlerin aufgefallen. Vor alem weil sie es geschafft hat, trotz ihrer schlechten Absichten, symphatisch zu wirken. So darf sie hier die Rolle einnehmen, die Jon Voight 1997 in dem Tierhorror-Überklassiker ANACONDA schon eingenommen hat. Überhaupt ist SABERTOOTH - ANGRIFF DES SÄBELZAHNTIGERS von Stil her sehr ähnlich von ANACONDA, DEEP BLUE SEA, OCTALUS oder ECHSENJAGD (Alles Tierhorrorfilme aus dem 90ern), obwohl er eine TV-Produktion ist.Tierhorrorfans können hier nichts falsch machen. Vor allem die, die sen ganzen Asylum-Schrott, welcher in den letzten Jahren mein geliebtes Tierhorror-Genre in den Schmutz zieht, satt haben.

...ich bin ein Fan dieses Filmes! Bereits vor vielen Jahren habe ich ihn im Abendprogramm von RTL 2 gesehen und mich seitdem immer gefreut, wenn er wiederholt wurde.Endlich, nach langem Suchen und Warten, ist er endlich auf DVD erschienen.In "Sabretooth" geht es um einen im Labor gezüchteten Säbelzahntiger, der bei einem Transport ausbrechen kann und nun die Wälder unsicher macht. Dort ist auch eine Camping- bzw. Wandergruppe unterwegs. Während einer nach dem anderen in Gefahr gerät, macht sich die Wissenschaftlerin zusammen mit ihrem Partner, einer Angestellten und einem Großwildjäger auf die Suche nach dem Säbelzahntiger.Die Qualität ist für eine DVD okay, schade nur, dass sie es nicht remastered haben, um auf Bluray Qualität zu kommen. Dennoch sind die Aufnahmen gut und auch der Ton ist absolut überzeugend.Der Film selbst ist keine Neuerfindung des Genres, doch mit seinen fast zwei Stunden weiß der Film zu unterhalten, Spannung aufzubauen und den Zuschauer immer wieder einerseits zum Schmunzeln zu bringen, ihn aber andererseits auch mitzureißen.Die Charaktere mag man fast alle, sogar die "böse" Wissenschaftlerin ist mir sympathisch gewesen. Die Darsteller machen ihren Job gut und passen zu ihren Rollen.Die Effekte, vor allem die Animation des Säbelzahntigers, lassen manchmal zu wünschen übrig, doch selbst das stört hier nicht. Denn dieser Horrorfilm erinnert noch an die guten, alten Tierhorrorstreifen. Er macht Spaß, unterhält und ist spannend.Für mich ein Geheimtipp!

Man sieht in kaum - und wenn, dann passt es nicht zum Film - mega schlecht gemacht - das müsste besser gehen. Absolut keine Kaufempfehlung - leider. Mag ja Trash-Filme ala Sharknadoo, aber das ????
