A new classic card game
I have both read and watch reviews of this game. I ordred this game from amazon and played it with my girlfreind. We both liked this game and have played it a number of times. The game it's self is a simple trick taking game. The basic game is easy to play with some advanced children with score simple and easy. The real meat of the game is in the clever advanced betting mechanic they have and my girlfriend and I prefered method of play. Moosetache Games has video of how to play this game on YouTube. In my game I did notice a small defect on the cards. The 9's were wrong on the cards. I contacted the creaters of the game and they told me that the game was an early print run of the game. They replaced the whole game with prompt and no charge on my part. I think Moosetache Games is a great with customer servise and this is also a fun and great game to play.

Great family time.
My two kids, my wife and I had a great time this summer with this game. My youngest daughter is 8 years old, and had no problem learning the rules. From time to time, we look forward to playing another game.

Game Gumshoes Presents: Rowboat
ROWBOATRowboat is an interesting variation on trick taking games. We feel the cards have beautiful artwork and that they are on high quality card stock. The packaging is sturdy which is always a plus since we like to play them anywhere we can. If you get one of the first print runs of the cards you will see that the "9" cards have an error. I was told they are "mirror" cards since it is a game having to do with water and it reflects.Onto the cards. You have your basic "Ace" card but in this case it is called The Anchor through to the 9 card. Then you have the "face cards" for lack of a better term. They are the Mermaid, the Seeker, and the Whale. Their values are in alphabetical order so if player 1 has a Whale and player 2 has the Mermaid then player 1 would win the trick. There are also 3 special cards. The Moon, which lets the dealer decide how many possible tricks up to a possible 12 that will be in the hand. The Lighthouse allows you to look at your opponents hand for the duration of the included timer. Finally, The Rowboat itself, This card lets you automatically take the trick. When we first played the game we didn't use the extra cards because we were trying to understand the trick taking aspects of the game and the scoring. We even questioned why they were there, but then we played the game where each of us had to use all three special cards. We understood after this why they were there.Hopefully you'll give this game a try as well. Now for the technical specs. With 1 deck2-4 PlayersAges 13 & upYou can purchase it from Moosetache Games website for $14.95 incl. shipping.[...]

Perfect seas!
Rowboat is an excellent card game - and I'm not even a particular fan of card games! With enough strategy to satisfy the hardcore card gamer, and enough whimsy and fun for the casual gamer, Rowboat is destined to be a classic! I was lucky enough to be shown the ropes by one of the game creators, and it was THE favorite game of our winter gaming convention!I watched people of all ages play this game to the point of obsession, and it is totally contagious fun! Time sails by when Rowboat is on the table! This should be on everyone's "must have" list for camp, boat and home!

fun and interesting and great for kids as well as adults
I was taught this game before it was actually available for sale and enjoyed it so much I taught my friends and their kids. Now it is something we do most often when we get together. The game cleverly combines elements from other card games. Quick game play makes playing multiple matches fun.My favorite compenent is what they call the 'Tide', how many cards get played during a round. You never know how many cards there will be unless you play the specialty card, the 'Moon', which controls the tide (clever).

unexpected intrigue
Rowboat achieves a unique blend of luck and skill, and although good cards can be very helpful on any given tide, they by no means guarantee a victory.Every tide demands an intensity of layered thought that is both stimulating and challenging. The dueling nature of each round allows for dynamic strategy that often must be modified in response to your opponents play. My sister and I have had some seriously intense battles, some of which lasting days going back and forth like a chess match.I think this game is awesome, and if you enjoy card games, you will too.
