The Portable MBA
O**R
College Students or Small Business Owners - This One Is For YOU!
My first Portable MBA book was in Marketing and I learned quite a bit by reading and studying this book. So much so that it leap-frogged me way ahead of others in my department who had college degrees.I am NOT a strong proponent of college degrees, but I am a strong proponent on education, and the MBA Series of books are excellent for those who have no time for traditional college courses. The Portable MBA can give anyone a strong advantage, even to those who intend to go to college and are not sure as to which discipline they wish to pursue, whether it be accounting, finance, economics, marketing, whatever. The Portable MBA - Fifth Edition is an excellent primer into each one of these subjects and more, this book definitely covers all the basics of business.Trust me, if you plan on getting an MBA, read and study this book before you begin your official course of study, and you will leap ahead of everyone else in your class. If you are starting your own business and have no time for a college curriculum, then get this book and bury yourself in it. You will NOT regret it.Good Luck!

A window into an MBA without the costs
I hold an MBA and I've got to tell you, if you want to save yourself thousands of dollars and get an edge, this book needs to have a place on your desk. Well written, covering many aspects of an MBA curriculum, along with a few features not covered in business school, this book will propell your career.

Great Book
This book takes the main principles from 16 mba subjects and condenses them into 1 chapter each. Good read, if you are looking to brush up on Business School fundamentals.

Great Overview
The information is well presented. It also gives useful information about studying MBAs in general and tips on the job search. The only downside is that there hasn't been a new edition since 2010 so the Macroeconomics chapter mostly focuses on the immediate aftermath of the financial crisis. Now we know more about the effects of quantitative easing and other changes in the economy since 2010 but you will have to find that information elsewhere.Still I would highly recommend the book if you're preparing to start an MBA.

Thorough Full-Time On-Campus MBA Curriculum Examples Resource
The book presents a curriculum experience typical for most fulltime Campus attending MBA programmes and believes this offers the best learning experience. The book is comprehensive and written by 6 experts in the field. It would have been beneficial if the book had included Part time, Distance learning/blended learning aspect becoming more and more available today, but that isn't the book's focus, it being the full immersed on-campus student experience. Still, I think the book misses informing and influencing a share of the non full-time students.
