Secure Lock
This lock is pick resistant. I tried picking it with a pick set and was unable to open it. It is much more secure that the cheap Harbor Freight pad locks.

Big and heavy
This was a little bigger and heavier than I anticipated (my bad for misreading the measurements), but it still works great for my gym locker! Super sturdy and heavy duty.

Very good lock pick resistance
Well made lock with all security pins on top and bottom. Much more internally secure than any masterlock out there (more resistant to picking) and it's tougher externally than most locks... However it's not quite up to the standards of something like a masterlock magnum m5 through m15 in forced entry prevention. The magnums don't have any security pins though, so a beginner lockpicker would tear into them in 10 seconds, whereas they probably could never get in this commando without using destructive tools and making a scene.

Commando Lock after half year
I have had this lock in use for half a year on my shed. It is in a semi-exposed place. This lock has always operated without difficulty, even with a layer of snow on it. The temperatures can drop to 20 here, and its never frozen open or shut and the cylinder has always been useable. It is also difficult for me to pick with a full set of security pins. Getting spare keys was a little difficult but a little known secret is that it uses the same key as an Abus Eterna 41/40 laminated padlock. My locksmith did not carry anything from commando lock but he had keys for Abus Eterna, so I told him to use those instead and the duplicate worked like the original keys. After about 5 months of use I noticed a few signs of weathering. Minor rust was forming on the side of the lock and on the ball bearing cutouts on the shackle. Most of this rust I was able to rub off and I took some CRC rust protection and sprayed it on the side of the lock, and sprayed white lithium grease on the ball bearing cutouts. The lock cylinder also had some white layer forming on the brass but it didn't affect the function yet. I had masterlocks go 3 years before any corrosion started, but this was in a more ideal climate with less harsh weather. This is much better than a Master Lock.

and contain a great deal of security in the core
While these are more expensive than a Master No3, they are just as tough under fire, as Master proudly claims their laminated locks are, they are also not shimmable, not bypassable, and contain a great deal of security in the core. This is an example that you don't have to spend a ton of money to get great security. Chances are, your attacker is more likely to break the hasp, chain, or latch it's attached to before breaking the lock, and an amateur lock picker is not going to open it. You're buying a piece of security for a reason, consider the value of what you're protecting and if it's worth a few extra dollars for much better protection. My only gripe is the keys seem to be made of cheese metal. They bend easily.

The locks are very well made.
I have not installed them on my backyard gate as yet, so I have not checked their weatherproofing ability. They fit the gate latch as expected, and open and close easily.

Wrong item received (UPDATED)
The lock seems sturdy enough, but I purchased the more expensive version with rubber bumpers and received the plain steel version instead. I would exchange it but I need it to lock up a UHaul in a few days and don't have time to do so.Update: The lock was outside for a single Florida rain storm and siezed up. The key would no longer turn the lock. After some penetrating oil and about 30 minutes of fiddling, I got it to unlock. I would not recommend purchasing this.

Happy to have this lock on my toolbox
Pleasant action for the key / cylinder, and high quality machining with crisp markings and no burrs / blemishes. I'm no wizard, but chicken bones or zip ties don't open the lock. Happy to have this lock on my toolbox.
