Die Befestigung des Daches mittels kleiner Magnete nicht optimal und der Antrieb mit Antriebsspiralen ebenfalls. Sie können sich lösen. Was ebenfalls stört, ist das das Modell nicht in den Leerlauf geschaltet werden kann d. h. nach Öffnung der Dampfzufuhr drehen sich die Räder sofort los. Antrieb mit einer Kette wäre besser und zuverlässiger.

I had read some reviews on discussion sites that were a little critical of this product. However, I relied on my professional judgment as an engineer, and upon the reputation of the manufacturer, in order to make my own judgement. Some reviewers have criticised the use of plastic for the wheels without taking into account that the type of plastic used, which appears to be glass filled nylon, can be stronger than metal. Personally, I would prefer to see such engineering plastic used rather than some diecasting alloys which have been know to decay and become brittle.I am very impressed with the value for money and the sturdy construction. It runs well if the instructions are followed correctly although I did have to make a small adjustment to the drive mechanism which was a little tight in the bearings. I would recommend the use of an oil on the countershaft which is thicker than that supplied with the model.I do not consider this to be a significant problem.The model, although not a true "scale model", captures completely the essence of the real thing which I saw at a steam engine rally only a few days before my purchase.

A very attractive, well proportioned and well detailed live steam working model which cries out for further super detailing.As it comes,it is fired by solid fuel tablets but conversion kits are available (e.g. from Forest Classics) for spirit or gas firing which would improve its performance. Fitting radio control, although not impossible, would be more involved, mainly because the steering is of the 'cart' type by worm and chain as fitted to Wilesco's steam roller and traction engine rather than of the Ackermann type as it should be.
