This is a sturdy, permanent style commode chair
This item arrives promptly and is a much better quality piece of equipment than the Drive.basic foldable one that was purchased originally for the patient. This one has a nice padded seat and adjustable padded back. You could move it in or out. This is not a bariatric width stool. It is for the average person. The height is adjustable. This is sturdy, strong and easy to clean. The only fault. I find with it is a bucket needs to be wider to fit the opening that is on the seat. You have to adjust the bucket back-and-forth to accommodate patient needs at the time. The bucket opening diameter is slightly smaller than the seat opening. However, the patient reports that it’s much more comfortable and he could sit on it for a longer period of time to take care of business. Highly recommend this commode. The Guardian brand seems to have better quality Products and assistive devices and they seem to last longer. This patient previously had purchased the guardian Walker, which is he has had for about four years. In my 40 years of nursing, this is one of the best quality products I have seen in Homecare.

Perfect for Hip Replacement: Solid, Sturdy, Safe, Adjustable, Comfortable, takes little space.
I could not decide what to get before I had my hip replacement. I wanted something that was safe, that would not tip over or come loose. I did not know how much of a rise I would need on my existing toilet. To high or to low would be very difficult to use not to mention very painful. I also did not have much room around my toilet to work with so that left some options out. This commode is the best answer. Very sturdy, made of steel, not aluminum, extremely comfortable with the padded seat, easy to assemble. This takes up little floor space, the very solid handles slide down or up with a push of the button, another push of a button and you can raise or lower the seat. You can use it in a bedroom by itself, or over the toilet. This is not going anywhere when you sit on it or when you grab the handles. There is no movement, this is solid, safe, easy to use, very comfortable, very easy to adjust, and will be around for a very long time. I hated to go back to my normal toilet seat, it is not nearly as comfortable as my commode. I did much research on toilet risers and commodes before buying this, and I made the right purchase...I would not trade this commode for any other.

Brilliant design
The media could not be loaded. First, I apologize for giving TMI for some, but these were all things I never thought about or realized when I bought the first bedside commode - this is the 2nd, and last one I will need.On a regular toilet, you don't have support arms and when you need to wipe you can adjust your position to make that task easier and bluntly, do a better job of cleaning up. THIS unit has incredibly easy drop-down arms that you can have up for balance/stability access getting on and off the seat, but at that all-important moment, you can drop the arms, adjust your position as needed. Raise the arms back up and you have the support needed to stand up and transfer to wheelchair, scooter, walker, etc.Height adjusts with simple button push locking on the legs. My kids helped set this up late at night, so we didn't bother putting the back on it. There is virtually no assembly if you don't add the back. Not sure the back is needed in my situation (post surgical recovery)I opted to buy this bedside commode for safety as I sleep alone and didn't want to attempt getting from bed to bathroom overnight and at over 65, my bladder no longer has an option for 'sleep soundly all night'...My first commode was very inexpensive and will become a camping option for my kids and grandkids, but for me, this new one is just brilliant in functional design and the price was completely reasonable for the quality of this product. I cannot believe I'm excited about a bedside toilet; those who are younger will snicker, those who are older will nod wisely.

Almost perfect...
This commode is sturdy, fairly comfortable and affordable. It is essential for those recovering from surgery or having mobility issues. I'm very happy to have purchased mine. I have MS (multiple sclerosis) and can no longer walk. MS can cause bowel and bladder problems. Having this next to my bed with the armrest down is great! It's so easy to transfer to. Love the height adjustable legs! Regarding the statements made by reviewers on the accompanying little round, gray bucket...I agree, it's not the best design. Unless it is placed in a spot specifically underneath you, well, let's just say the potential for missing the mark is high! Especially if you are in a bit of a *ahem* hurry...you know. Anyway, I also purchased a reviewer recommended Rubbermaid Roughneck 15 quart bucket. Easy to find right here in Amazon. Mine was in the color royal blue, measuring 14.5"L x 11"W x 9.2"H. Works very well! Had this commode come with a receptacle like this it definitely deserves 5 stars! Very satisfied with the purchase and I thank the reviewers who made mention of the replacement bucket! Buy it, you'll be glad you did.Update 10/17/24: This Commode continues to be of great service. I just wanted to let everyone know that 8 gallon trash bags will fit the Rubbermaid bucket very well. Make your life easier and line the bucket for ease of disposal.
