Handy microscope for quick inspections
I've been using this digital blue QX3 microscrope at work to examine tiny electronics and it works well. itโs small, portable, and the images are clear enough for my needs. definitely a good tool to have around the house or in your bag for on-the-go checking of small objects. simple to set up and use, making my tasks easier.

QX3 Microscope a FLOP!!!!
This microscope should not have been offered for sale. It did not work when received. The time I spent trying to get it to work (unsuccessful) was of a much higher value than the device itself. When I quit trying to get it to work I found that the driver the INSTALL program was looking for is found in Windows 3.1. Goodness! Shame on me for using Windows 8.1!!!??? Customer service was quick to admit they did not have the technical understanding to help. In the end I received a full refund from Amazon. I'll try a different microscope now because the need still exists. Because of Amazon's return/refund handling policy, I will continue to purchase from Amazon. Hopefully I have better luck with the next purchase. I'll be happy to be more thorough if there are further questions. BTD

This is not a toy- it's a tool for all ages.
If you're looking for an inexpensive alternative to an electronic miscroscope- this is it. In numismatics, a microscope is a must. This little baby is a gem. Not only does it display results instantly on your screen in real time, it allows you to take snapshots, as many as you want, save them, then export them to any folder you want on your hard drive. It is highly versatile. Anyone who is seriously considering spending hundreds of dollars on a computer/digital microscope should try this first- if you like it you've saved a lot of money, if not you haven't lost much and you have something the kids can "play with"

Works only on obsolete computers!
This unit works only up until Microsoft's XP operating system. There is no updated driver, as Intel sold the rights and the new company is using a completely different interface for a newer version (the QX5). So the unit is worthless with a modern Windows computer .... nowhere is this mentioned either by Amazon or its various suppliers of "used" QX3's. In addition to that this unit, described as in "very good" condition was missing a few parts. Although this would not keep the microscope from working, it does limit its usefulness for its original purpose, as a scientific "toy".

Good for casual close up inspections.
This is the first revision of the current Digital Blue QX7 Microscope. I bought used one from the Amazon Market Place. With the offered price seemed a good buy. When it arrived I found out There are no drivers for windows7/8 64 bit. In my searchs I found this item will work on Windows 7 64 bit if you install Virtual Machine and windows xp mode. These are free downloads from microsoft for windows 7 pro and ultimate. After loading and installing the vm xp mode the drivers/software (google search) the microscope attaches to the usb in xp mode and the qx3 operates quite well. With the QX7 costing 150 the qx3 is a steal at the 16 dollars for product and shipping. The camera is a lower pixel unit but is good for casual or grade school projects. Items can be top or bottom lit. with careful adjustment of the stand even at 200x the view is good for most children. I find it good for close inspection of household needs as well. The unit comes of the stand for hand held inspection. The price for value is good.

A hidden bargain among kid's microscopes
Requiring a USB connection and a computer to attach it to, this is very much like a webcam, except that it can do 10X, 40X and 200X. It has incident and base illumination; focus is touchy at 200X but look at the price. This video microscope is a favorite at our microscopy center open houses. When compared with the cardboard tube 'scopes they sell at toy stores, this is a gem. This allows realtime viewing, as well as image and video capture. These can be viewed on the computer, emailed etc. and comes with software. (...).

Hot! Hot! Hot!
What can I say?! The QX3 is an experience that all will enjoy. This past summer I took a workshop where the QX3 had center stage during one of my sessions. When it first came out, I'd planned on purchasing it, but totally forgot about it, even thoough the price dropped. Needless to say, when I found out everything it could do, I ordered it immediately for my home, and will be ordering another for my grandchildren. A must for all future scientists!

VERY UNHAPPY WITH PRODUCT
SKU#00-A3AN-OFJ3, ISBN/ASIN#Booo59TF3, ListingID 0725F36248purchase6-12-09 The microscope came with outdated (DOS) software. when we unkowinglky installed the disc it crashed our computer, costing $300.00 to repair it. What is AMAZON goiug to do to make this right. At this time the microscope is of no use to us. I expect a full refund or an upgraded microscope at no charge. Your understanding is apreciated.
