Not quite perfect, but the best that exists
My house has one of those unfortunate entryways where the front door is lower than the entire first floor by one step. Being an older house, there are no outlets near this unexpected little feature, so I couldn't even put a night light there. I bought two of these rechargeable motion sensing light strips as the width of the drop is five feet and the led strips themselves are only one meter long (a little over 3 feet). Did I mention these are rechargeable? The sensor piece is small and light because it doesn't need to have four AA batteries in it. It recharges via micro USB. Time will tell how well the battery performs. The led strip can be cut with scissors at special places that are marked. I cut one at 32" and one at 28", giving me 60" of length. (There was no option for 30" and 30", sadly.) I adhered the strips just below the lip of the step and stuck the sensors about a foot up the wall. Walking past the sensors in the dark now makes it very clear that there is a potential trip/fall hazard nearby. The sensors are magnetic and come with a little metal disc that you stick to the wall. When they need a recharge, just lift them off the magnetic mount and disconnect the led cable. Stick them on a charger and walk away for a couple hours. The sensors have about 100 degrees of motion detection from side to side. You do have to be approaching them diagonally or directly in front for them to trigger. They won't see you if you approach from the side. The night mode works great. In full dark, both strips will light up. Around dusk, only one will light up because that creates enough light to convince the other sensor it's still daylight. Keep that in mind if you want to place them as I did, with each sensor facing the other's light strip. Be very careful when peeling off the paper that covers the adhesive. It's easy to accidentally tear off the adhesive and then wonder why it doesn't stick. Suggestions for improvement: These light strips are BRIGHT. I would have happily accepted lower LED brightness or fewer LEDs per foot for a longer strip of lights. I know there's only so many LEDs that can be powered by one 5V source. A longer, dimmer strip would make a perfect motion sensitive night light for highlighting trip hazards.

Perfect for closet space
I have a closet in my apt that has no lighting whatsoever and no nearby outlets. After wasting my time (and money) with a weak alkaline battery operated light for years I finally decided to look into alternatives. Never expected to find something so small and convenient. I've installed the strip above the inside of the door and the motion detector/battery block attaches to the door frame via a magnet. It was charged right out of the package and since purchasing it back in April I have not yet had to charge it. It's bright enough to illuminate the bottom shelf with ease and motion detection is accurate and customizable. Very satisfied to have found a viable solution for my closet space. Would purchase again.

This is a very nice product. A couple of things to note. 10/22 update.
UPDATE: Opened the door yesterday and the lights are working fine, but a loop about a foot long has pulled away from the trim. Easy fix. I used some gel super glue to reattach the strip. Use the glue of your choice. DO NOT USE TACKS OR STAPLES! You’d be courting disaster. I’m still happy. No rating change. /////////////////////// I needed light in a small closet, and this seemed like just the thing. You get a rechargeable battery with and advertised 3 hours between charges. This mounts magnetically so it's easy to take down for charging. It includes a USB cable and it will charge with any standard 5-volt charger. You get 3 meters of warm (3000K) led lights with double sticky tape for mounting. The strip is about 0.25 inches wide. You also get two "end caps to terminate the strip. If the length is too long you can trim the strip to fit. There are markings so you know where it's safe to cut. Installation is pretty simple with a couple of points where attention is required. The clamshell packaging is, like all clamshell packaging, a pain with which to deal. Make sure you clean the surface where the strip will be mounted. I used alcohol pads, but I think glass cleaner would work as well. Be careful when you remove the red cover off the mounting tape. It's too easy to think you're getting the covering when you are really removing the tape from the led strip. I used a sharp pocketknife to separate the covering from the tape. The motion sensor seems to work well and the leds provide a lot of light. I've not looked on their website, but instructions are Ikea-like. Stick-man. Summary. Easy to install. Works well. Level of difficult a solid 1.

Lots of options, would recommend for sure
Using this in an in-the-wall safe. It's got a magnet in the body that's not that strong but keeps it where it needs to be. Also includes a 3m double stick circle with matching metal piece so you can still remove it to charge it, although I didn't use it. There's about a one second delay between the time I open the door and the light comes on. Bright enough, 15 second timer gets the job done without draining the battery, and having it rechargable is truly awesome. Tells you when it's charging and when it's fully charged. Would recommend to anyone that has to be in a closet or safe when the lights are off. I try not to wake up my wife when I get home early in the morning and this makes it way easier to do what I need to do without turning on the lights.

Too short.
I didn’t get to use this. The light strand was too short for my closet. It appeared nice just too short. Make sure you measure what length you need. I didn’t .

Battery life suuuucks
I have a small bedroom closet that doesn't have a light. At first this was the perfect solution! I put the lights around the inside of the door frame. The motion sensor activated when I opened the door and I could see every corner of the closet - perfection. After a couple of days the adhesive wore off and the light strand dangled by the power source's magnet. A few days after that, the battery life rapidly declined. I now have to charge it daily if I want to use it. If you can keep it plugged in while in use, go for it. If you need the battery, keep looking

Perfect Lights for Pantry!
When I first opened the package I was concerned that the lights weren’t long enough. Although shorter than I expected they put off a TON of light and are absolutely perfect. I have only had them installed for a few days… I will update next month on how long the rechargeable battery lasts. I definitely pan to buy more for my linen closet. Oh and the seller is great, he reached out to me to make sure I received my items and that I was happy with the product.

Strong adhesive, simple set up, fulfills my needs Love love love!
I bought this product & apprehensive because I’ve bought quite a few of these Types lights because my closet is very dark in my bedroom! ((No electrical :(.. )) I hate the battery operated ones because it’s so tedious to always change the batteries with short battery life! I find this product to be very convenient to my needs and all I have to do is throw it on the charger for a few and it’s good to go for a while!! The motion sensor is unbelievably good every time I open my closet it turns on! Sooo cool I need more snd will happily purchase several of these to finish my closet! Best lights I could have. Just make sure you are sure where you want to put the adhesive for the magnet because I thought I’d want to move it over justttt a little bit and that thing is practically embedded into the wall! (I’m sure it could come off but I don’t find it worth to rip off right now I’m just being picky about my placing).
