Half-way through...looking for more...
I like the reflections on each day of the week for the particular Psalm she writes about. However after half way through the book it gets to be too introspective and can be a bit of a downer. I'm hoping that in the second half of the book the author chooses at least a few uplifting and encouraging Psalms. They are there because I've read them often! So a better balance of Psalm selection would make it a 5+ star rating!

I so admire this author and so anything she has written is a winner. Guided meditations of the Psalms get you deeply into the Word.

Amazing resource for hearing from God!
This is one of the best resources I've found for teaching us to be still and listen as God speaks to us from scripture. As a spiritual director, I appreciate that immensely. The tone of the book is more contemplative than traditional Bible studies I've led, which feels fresh and alive, and the perspective of author Jeanie Miley is that God has a word just for us every time we take time to really listen. She focuses on just one psalm each week and shows us that the psalms, which are anything but ancient, are a great doorway into a deeper relationship with the Living God. Every day she offers a rich meditation to draw us closer to God and free us from ourselves, with the goal of becoming more and more like Christ. I'm currently facilitating a group based on this study, which has led to some of the richest conversations I've ever experienced in a group setting as we share how God has spoken to us through scripture, through prayer and in our daily lives. I think I can speak for the group to say it's given us a much deeper sense of community and bondedness as a result. Through his grace, we are all learning to listen more closely to God and to each other, to follow where he leads, to love as he loves. Through reading "Ancient Psalms," we are being shaped and changed as we "enter into the Mystery and consent to the work of the One who makes all things new."
