Naval Ceremonies, Customs, and Traditions (6th Edition)

Not what the title suggests.
I bought this book in the hopes of picking up on some of the traditions and customs of the Navy that I may have missed. The book definitely covers a pretty good amount, but what I have found is that they almost completely ignore the enlisted community. This is a pretty big omission as far as I am concerned and is why I marked the score where I did. I bought this book thinking that it would cover "Naval" ceremonies, customs, and traditions not just "Officer" ceremonies, customs, and traditions. In the end, I am disappointed in the purchase. I only recommend this book if you are possibly joining the Navy to become an officer or are an officer already. If you are looking for a book on all the ceremonies, customs, and traditions of the Navy, there are probably better sources out there than this book.

A Good Naval Reference
If you ever wondered where the word midshipman, warrant officer, foc'sle, etc came from, or you are a big naval history buff this is the book for you. The book describes Dining-In's, Crossing the Line, Change of Command Ceremonies, etc and it also explains the history behind these traditions. It is a good reference for any naval command, or anyone interested in the Navy.**Note: I received my copy without the jacket cover.

A lot of information
If you want a lot of information about the navy then this is the perfect book for you. If you don't want to read a large book with a lot of information then don't waste your money and look for the info on the internet instead (but you won't get as much detail and accurate as this book).

Very informative reading.
It made my son very happy when he received it as a gift. It appears to contain all the information he was seeking.
