Life at the Zoo

The photographs taken by the author are absolutely stunning. Michael George has incredible skill with capturing the beauty of the animals you can find at the zoo. You really do feel as though you are getting a behind-the-seasons portrayal of zoo life. Which is perfect for ANY curious young one who wonders what goes on in the life of the beautiful creatures cared for at zoos. The author also does a fantastic job at explaining the photographs with wording that is targeted toward young children, making this book extremely educational and informative (and really REALLY interesting!) I highly recommend this book to anyone who has young one in their life.

Impressive, unique, and educational book for kids! Well researched, beautifully photographed, and well written. I was already familiar with Michael George's work, and like his other projects - this book did NOT disappoint. Bought it for my friend's kids over the holidays, and had a great time reading it and talking about the beautiful (and adorable!) pictures with them. Lots of colorful visuals for the younger ones, and engaging, easy to read text for the older ones. Highly recommend!

What a colorful and entertaining book! As an adult, I learned a great deal about the daily activities in which zoo creatures engage, and about how the zookeepers care for and connect with their animals. I am excited to gift this book to my niece and nephews; the author does a beautiful job of explaining terms and concepts at a child’s level. And the pictures are amazing! It is so cool that the author both shot the photos and wrote the text for this book. Definitely a good gift for a curious kid.

This was such a delight to read. I bought it as a gift, but I also enjoyed reading it myself since I am a huge fan of animals. I loved learning about what happens behind the scenes at a zoo, and this is a great resource for teaching kids that most zoos are actually great advocates for animal health and well-being!

I was already familiar with Michael George's stunning photography and gorgeous writing from National Geographic features, so when the announcement for the book came out I ordered 3 copies. I was not disappointed in the least. The book is so well produced, and the pictures and the words beautifully complement each other! I am giving 2 copies to my nephew and niece, but I am saving one for my coffee table because it is that good!

First of all, just to see the kids faces was amazing. This is not your ordinary book about animals at the Zoo. Oh no... its almost magical to watch kids first look through the pictures and then want to know more about the animals and how they are treated, why they are there and whether they are happy at the zoo. A great book for Christmas gifts and birthdays!!

I enjoyed this book but even more my daughter loves it and pulls it out to look through independently. I love the behind the scenes look at zoo life and the adorable pictures. I bought five more copies to give to little cousins and friends as Christmas presents. I am also going to donate one to my daughter’s school.

This is a childrens book but the photos are beautiful.It has some interesting facts. The language is simple but so what. Wonderful when you are tired and jaded.

Purchased as gift for nephew. He loved it. Great insight to anyone that loves animals and wants be a zookeeper or even a vet. He has lots of animal books and said "never had book as good as this before".
