If you're building guitars for a living then this obviously isn't the set for you. But it's certainly usable. I don't know why they gave the rocker a sort of serrated edge, but it is still functional. That's my biggest question. Why not a smooth edge on the rocker? The file is certainly usable. Works slow, but holds up. Feels good in the hand. This will get you through a fret job on the cheap.

The fret rocker and fret guards are decent. The fret guards need to be sanded down to remove sharp edges but after that they're fine, if not super robust. The file is pretty much worthless. I did use it, ironically, to file down the sharp edges off of the outside of the fret guards. For something like that it's fine. Mine had some jagged edges where it's supposed to be smooth to avoid damaging the fingerboard. I wouldn't use the file for anything where the cosmetics of the outcome are important. For the price paid its fine. The fret rocker is relatively thick aluminum and seems relatively decent. For the price paid, and comparing it with professional level tool prices it's okay, you just have to be extra careful not to damage the finish of your guitar when using these inexpensive tools.

Regardless of the negative reviews these tools are exactly what I expected! I have spent the past 2 weeks repairing most of my guitars even the guitars that I didn't know even had an issue with frets are now much improved. I would suggest taking your time to properly tape your fretboard, then use the fret rocker and a marker to mark the frets that are uneven, then use the file and sandpaper to carefully file each fret to perfection. Trust me, there is no way to mess this up, because it takes many strokes with the tool to repair even minor infections, so there is practically zero chance of taking off too much. I would definitely order this product again, and would suggest buying it, you will not regret it.

Yes, there are more superior tools than these offerings. However, for the money. These tools do a fantastic job if you intend to work on your own guitars

This is a great little starter kit for someone to get into some more advanced maintenance of their fretted instrument

I cannot give this product a high rating due to the fact the file will not work on my guitars. The groove cut in the file, that allows you to run it along the fret , is too deep. The file body hits the fretboard and will damage it. Perhaps this file works on low end guitars, but I did a comparison on a Martin, Breedlove, and even a $400 Alvarez. If I tried to use on any, it would cut into the fretboard. I must return.

The iluiz string height gauge is very hard to read and confusing. Is each mark, 2 3 4....12 13 14 in millimeters or some other unit??
