I've only had this about a month and like it so far. A couple of lessons learned. Do not be tempted to add any clumping crystal or clay... even if you have left over. They will make a mess! Also do not judge change time by what you see on the surface. I have 2 adult cats and made both mistakes. But now box is clean and I will only use non-clumping crystals. Will change litter every 2-3 weeks now instead of 4.

The liter box itself is pretty small, which I think is a product of them being able to sell a smaller replacement bag of crystal liter. When you put the top on the litter box (which is mainly to help keep the cat from tracking out the crystals and onto the floor) it creates one problem.My cat is pretty big. So he can not stand on top of the litter box ledge. It would tip the box because with low amount of litter the box is not weighted down well for bigger cats. With the walls on the top cover pretty high on the sides/back it pretty much has made it where my cat can't bury his poop. So after he poops once or twice. He doesn't want to use it. Have already found him using my clothes hamper and a cardboard box I had cut up and stacked in a hallway to pee. I scoop his box daily, but I'm not always home all day and if he poops once and can't bury the poop I just can't have him using homemade liter boxes out of my stuff.When he has used it to pee it's been great and very absorbent. But if you have a bigger cat and they are picky about litter box if poop is visible/showing on top, then they really have no way to bury it and may stop using the box. I may look into the one that is electronic and auto scoops.In the mean time I took off the top cover of the litter box and just using the base that holds the litter. Will see if that gives my cat a better chance to bury his poop so he will use it to urinate if I'm not home and couldn't clean the box out right away. I'll update after I give it some time and see if that helped.Update: After taking off the the top cover. My Cat is now able to reach his paw in from all around the litter box to bury his poop while standing on the floor (since he can't stand on ledge of litter box). He's now been using the box to urinate which is good. For whatever reason though if he see's visible poop on top and can't bury it he won't use it. Note: Without the cover. Definitely tracks more crystals outside the box. Wasn't a huge deal for me as I have a Roomba that runs on a schedule every day.

Its very big. The little step off screen with the holes really does help with minimizing kitty litter from getting more scattered. The blue crystal system just doesn't work for me. Maybe its just me expecting more help from this system, it just doesn't work the way I read it is suppose to work. The urine does not seem to drip through the plastic holes to where the pee pad catches it. This blue crystal litter does not clump, therefore per the instructions, I'm suppose to just use the scooper to mix it up so the litter smells fresh. Well, that's nothing but a pipe dream in my case. All I see is my kitten walking around in wet, gross, urine stained crystals. I ended up dumping out the blue crystals and started using another brand of regular clumping litter. I love the big size of the box bc I personally like my kitty to have 5+ inches of litter bc it seems to really work great with more.I bought two of these. One for each level of the house. So, I paid alot of money to have nice big litter boxes.I have tried using the blue crystal system 3 times already and I cant get it to work like it says it should. All that ends up is having to deal with mixing urine colored brown-blue crystals and it does not smell good either. I really wished it worked bc the idea sounds great, but I just fail at making it work. Plus, the blue crystals cost 2-3× more than most regular litter out there.If u have multiple cats then this is a big wonderful box to have for each level of ur house.

Very surprised by the predominately positive reviews in light of even good ones referencing the defect in it's primary purpose: to drain urine onto the pee pad. I'm truly disappointed, because the product was otherwise good.• The uniform grey disappears into the background of most decor• The size was just right for the small space in the bathroom where my cat insists on having it• The top grate actually did prevent some of the spillover.However after weeks of use the pad inside the drawer is still dry as a bone. The drain holes are way too small. I took the base out and poured water into it, then swished it around for a bit before pouring it back out. None went through.I should also add that while the build of most components was solid, the drawer itself seemed flimsy. I was willing to overlook this, however, had the product done what it was supposed to do. I did not spend the extra $ on crystals; I was specifically looking for an open-top box with pad integration.

This litter box has been great with my two new kittens. They took to the crystal right away, which I was worried about. The catcher in the front doesn’t do a ton, still have litter everywhere but it’s fine I just sweep it up a couple times a day. The crystal litter that comes with this is also super nice and lasted my two kittens almost a month before it started to smell like urine (and this was with me completing stirring the litter and getting all the bottom stuff a couple times a day, which is necessary.) My only qualm is that their pee doesn’t drain through at all onto the pee pad? I have no idea why but I haven’t had to change it yet in over a month of having my kittens (it’s bone dry.) This is slightly annoying because the crystal absorbs the pee and then smells badly, but nothing too major.

Oui, la litière est efficace si vous la remuez fréquemment et l'est encore plus si vous n'avez qu'un seul chat. À deux chats, la durée d'utilisation diminue grandement mais c'était à s'y attendre. Le fait de pouvoir jeter les selles directement dans la toilette rend le nettoyage quotidien assez simple. Pour ce qui est laver le bac, tous les morceaux se défont aisément et ça rend le nettoyage facile. Étant donné que le bac est assez petit, il ne prend vraiment pas beaucoup de place. Le fond est plein de petits trous qui permettent à l'air de circuler et ainsi diminuer les odeurs. Le seul problème avec cette partie c'est qu'après un certain temps, les trous se bouchent à cause des plus petits cristaux ce qui rend le nettoyage assez ardu! J'ai tenté de plusieurs façons de les déboucher mais c'est pratiquement impossible d'y arriver et c'est très long. L'excès d'urine ne coule donc plus par les trous et elle s'accumule dans le bac qui rend la litière encore moins efficace!

I wondered why the absorbent pad was barely damp after two days. It turns out the holes in the upper tray are too small. There was a layer of urine under the litter. I used a drill to expand the hole size a bit and it now works as advertised.

I was very happy with this, I have 2 older cats and it really eliminated the smell, unfortunately, after a few months the urine wouldn't drain through the holes, I tried scrubbing it clean and soaking it but the holes seem to be clogged up even though I can't see anything in them. very strange.

I gave this unit a 4 star review because although it is deep enough it is not as long as the electric one this company sells.. I have big cats and they both need room.. this box may be only 1 inch shorter in length but that one inch does make a difference with two cats who need the room.."update" changed my rating to 3 ...so my cats love the box... but one major cleaning problem.. the holes to allow urine to flow get clogged up .. they are too small to allow litter or urine to pass through freely because the litter is small and blocks the holes.."
