No living interior designer holds a candle to Wiseman. An essential book for your library. Not mere coffee table decor.
Wiseman is the most trusted and discreet interior designer in his profession. His clients are also among the most trusted and discreet (and prosperous) in their respective fields. Many are household names. But Wiseman is about quality, edification, education, and interiors that enhance the lives of those who live in them and their guests; not about making a splash in the tabloids. That's why, if you haven't heard of Paul Vincent Wiseman (even though he's been AD100 consistently), you mustn't think he's an "also ran" and then pass up this gorgeous book. It's one of those uncommon interior design books that you will keep near to hand, and return to perpetually. Not just a temporary title to grace your coffee table. The book itself is beautiful, substantial, well printed and designed. The photography by Matthew Millman is superb, not artifically over-styled or deviously lit or unrealistically edited. His images bring us into these spaces in a very natural, almost palpable way, allowing us to explore the design and composition of the spaces, as well as their details, materials, and subtle colours. The text by Brian Coleman is honest, clear, intelligent, and gives us background stories and commentary that bring meaning to the places, and complement the photographs perfectly. What makes this volume merit a special place in your library, most of all, is the exquisite work of Paul Wiseman. There is so much to enjoy, and so much to learn in the inner spaces he has created with his clients, you will never see this book as "passé" and never relegate it to an out-of-reach shelf in your spare bedroom.

... it's also filled with some repetitive work that feels like a sterile 4 Seasons hotel
Paul Wiseman can do some incredible work and the book does show some exceptional work but it's also filled with some repetitive work that feels like a sterile 4 Seasons hotel. The quality is there in the work but it sometimes lacks the beauty that makes rooms timeless. Mr. Wiseman is obviously a talented interior designer but his works sometimes feels like he lacked the passion that makes legends.

Very Important, as well as Exquisite and Inspiring Design Book
The book shows the exquisite detail achieved in a variety of architectural styles, where, as Frank Gehry and Paul Goldberger say in their forewords, Paul Wiseman and his design team work with each architect and each client to achieve distinct results, unique to each project. This is not work based on a template, but each project is distinct and unique. The photography is excellent, showing sensitivity to the projects, and the attribution of the designer's vendor sources is a first.

Save your $
I'm sad to say I was really disappointed in this book! The Wiseman Group has created some amazing properties so I guess I had expectations of being dazzled. This book is lukewarm in inspiration, unfortunately.

Two Stars
The book may not showing the best of this firm.

An Exquisite Book
Since childhood, I have relished the look, the feel, and the excitement of a new book. However, few in my life have given me such a thrill as Inner Spaces. I've just spent the weekend thumbing carefully through it, enjoying every page with its engaging text, captivating photographs, and stunning layout. Wow! As a designer, I was drawn to the The Wiseman Group for their ability to let the architecture of the home—whether traditional or contemporary—inspire their design. This exquisite book perfectly suits the work of this talented team, who produce exquisite designs of the highest caliber.

The Wiseman Touch
Inner Spaces is a beautiful collection of Paul Wiseman's work. It shows the incredible attention to detail and comprehensive vision this artist has each time he takes on a project. The variety of work is impressive which also reveals Wiseman's loyalty to the client's own tastes and sensibilities. From classical, to minimalist, to exotic, Paul Wiseman seems to have a sensitive and magic touch that takes personal spaces to remarkable heights. Wonderful book!

Inner Spaces beautifully illustrates Paul Wiseman’s artistic progression over an esteemed career
Inner Spaces beautifully illustrates Paul Wiseman’s artistic progression over an esteemed career. Brian Coleman’s narrative and Matt Millman’s photographs bring Wiseman’s work to life. With each featured property, from traditional to tropical, I found myself wanting to personally experience its furnishings, textures, colors, and shapes. Inner Spaces is a wonderful book!
