these are a good value. there are more expensive battery vaults out there, and depending on what you need, that may be the choice for you. my battery packs are typically in a dry environment, so i am not looking for any IPX levels. i prefer to putt a rigger's band over the top to make sure they don't open up in my pack. that way toy also have a fire starter in the EPDM band.

I chose the color red for dead batteries that need recharging.

I use them for CR123A batteries and they fit nicely into this product, but do not go all the way to the bottom of each slot. The cases then slip together so that they stay together and make access to all the batteries easy. However, when you have the cases clipped together you can only get into the four on the one end because the latch all ALL the others are NOT accessible while clipped together. Could have been a 5-star if not for that.

These are very tight with CR-123A cells which is what I bought it to hold. Additionally, when fully-loaded it becomes very difficult to remove AA cells. AAA cells fit loosely and rattle a bit. I recommend putting a couple AA cells in with AAA cells to help fill the space. (maybe alternating)Otherwise, they do a solid job of keeping batteries together and not rolling about and potentially completing circuits and blowing up in your bag. They're not going to keep them dry if you end up in a downpour.

Wasn't too sure about the red color..... then when you start looking for those batteries you tossed in your pack and the red color stands out it makes it that much greater of a product. I keep an extra set of these in the car and my "adventure packs" for the kids so they can explore all day with their walkie-talkies.

For camping these are great! I took them out for a trail camp and though it was raining and a rough ride to get to the spot, the batteries never got wet and right in the area I packed them in. The red color lets me find the batteries easily even in the dark.

The hinge portion of the container is thin and weak. After opening and closing it a few times, it breaks. Okay if you're just storing for SHTF gear bags but not for everyday use.
