Budgie still Rocks!
You can't go wrong with any Budgie cd.Budgie is rock and some mellow parts. Some of their music is pricey because most are imports. If you can get some of their earlier stuff and crank it up!

ENTER GUITARIST JOHN THOMAS 1979/ ENTER BUDGIES NWOBHM ERA!!!!!!!!
after tony bourge left budgie due to the fact the sales from impeccable (1978) where well?? not very impeccable to the execs at A& M records wich resulted in budgie getting dropped by late 1978 by A&M resulted in tony leaving the band, the lATE john thomas joined the band by late 1979 a year later so this ep represented a NEW incarnation & sound for budgie..... this ep was released by spring 1980 and the NWOBM was storming the uk & europe by then so budgie quickly adapted to that sound very well, i mean the 4 original studio tracks here from the ep sound quite a lot like other british HM greats of 1980 like ANGELWITCH, MYTHRA, DARK STAR, GASKIN, TYGERS OF PAN TANG, even WITCHFYNDE to a degree... budgie had left there 70s straight up hard rock w/ a touch of zepplin sound in the past that they did so well with on all albums from 1971 through 1978, this was a new era and a very great one!!!! i always found something to love about EVERY BUDGIE RECORD ever released between 1971 through 1982.... my only complaint w/ this release wich made me almost give this 4 stars was for the price they could have included the great READING SHOW they did in august 1980 as there is plenty of room left on this disc for there set that day..... anyway nice to have a killer remastered cd version of this ep as i first purchased this way back in 1982 40 years ago already!!!!! god these where the days, the denim jackets w/ all the patches & bottons, all the great new metal bands popping up all over the uk/europe & the us in 1980 great times, great memories....... rip to both BERKE & JOHN THOMAS............ john brought the right sound to budgie at the right time!!!! in the liner notes i have here with this it states that in early 1979 budgie moved to san antonio tx for most of 1979 when tony left & they gigged around the us a bit that year, WHO WAS PLAYING GUITAR FOR THOSE US DATES I WONDER AS IT DOES NOT SAY

Gotta be a fan.
HUGE Budgie fan...As far as I've read, these songs were recorded as demo's to be shopped around for a new record deal for the revised band, now with replacement guitarist John Thomas on board.I'd recommend this EP for compleatists only.Opening track "Wildfire" is solid enough but pretty basic with a section for Thomas to show what he's about."High School Girls", (an average song) comes across somewhat sexist/creepy in this day and age (or maybe my age)"Lies of Jim (The E Type lover)" is a basic but solid enough little number. Worth a listen. The outstanding track without a doubt is "Panzer Division Destroyed". A great rocker that went on to be a mainstay of their live shows from then on.Unfortunately the 2 live tracks sound like an underwhelming bootleg recording."High school girls"...meh!"Panzer Division Destroyed"...at least the energy transmits. All in all you're mainly buying this for the original, studio version of Panzer Division Destroyed.Tough to consider the price for just 6 tracks (4 songs)I waited til it came down to CDN$17.25

5 star music..3 star value.
1980 and Budgie came out blazing with their heavy metal E.P to introduce new guitarist John Thomas. 4 excellent heavy rockin tracks of which 'Wild Fire' and 'Panzer Division Destroyed' are superb. Back in 1980 at 18yrs old the lyrics to 'High School Girls' was a bit of fun, a bit jarring 40 years later. This remaster has added 2 bootleg quality live tracks and no liner notes worth speaking about,so not really value for money given the high prices.

It's Budgie, need I say more?
As other reviews have stated this EP was to "break in" then new guitarist John Thomas. It's a cracking EP and every song is brilliant.

Classic 1980s BNWOHM
Does what it says on the time. Worth buying just for Panzer Division Destroyed.
