Formulation was changed for the worse, but now they've fixed it
UPDATE (10/19/2015): In my original review (see below), I gave only one star because when BioSyntrx changed the name from "Macula Complete" to "Eye and Body Complete", they also changed the formula, switching to folic acid, which is controversial, because folic acid may be linked to an increased incidence of some types of cancer. It really bothered me that they would do this, while touting it as a "new and improved" version. However, I see now from the BioSyntrx website that they have changed it again, but this time for the better, from folic acid to folate (as 5-MTHF glucosamine salt). (Note that on the Amazon website, if you look at the ingredient list, it does still say "folic acid", as of 10/19/2015. If you order from them, make sure you're getting the newest formulation.)I'm not a doctor or a medical professional but I'm glad they made this change, and I feel much better about starting to take this multivitamin again. It's so hard for the average person, like myself, to know what supplements are safe, in a world where even the "experts" can never seem to agree.ORIGINAL REVIEWThis product used to be known as "Macula Complete", which I took on a regular basis for three years. I stopped a few months back because I developed some neurological symptoms and also extreme light sensitivity. I went for various tests, including blood work, and my B6 level was a full eight times the normal upper limit. I did some reading on "B6 toxicity", and I really believe that this was the cause of my symptoms. This is NOT, however, the reason for my rating. This is just a caution to you that when taking a high potency formula such as this, it is important to monitor your blood levels for those vitamins that can be potentially toxic at high concentrations in the body. The reason for the low rating is that at the same time BioSyntrx changed the name from "Macula Complete" to "Eye and Body Complete", they also tweaked the formulation. One of the changes was to switch to synthetic folic acid from food-based folate (also known as 5-Methyltetrahydrofolate or 5-MTHF). There's much information online from various sources, including government sites, about a possible link between synthetic folic acid and an increased incidence of various types of cancer, including cancers of the lung and prostate. To my knowledge, no such link has ever been suggested for food-based folate. On the contrary, food-based folate is thought to have a preventative, anti-cancer effect. So why would BioSyntrx switch from "generally accepted to be safe" food-based folate to "possibly harmful" synthetic folic acid? If there is a doubt about the safety of synthetic folic acid, wouldn't it have been more responsible of BioSyntrx to stick with food-based folate? Around three months ago, I expressed my concerns to BioSyntrx via their website, but have received no response. Sadly, I've come to realize that perhaps the only reason for making this change was to save BioSyntrx a few pennies per bottle in manufacturing costs. If not, I wish they would at least explain it to us.

Recommended by my Opthalmologist for my macular degeneration
Recommended by my Opthalmologist for my macular degeneration. All I’m aware of is that “studies have shown” that it contains vitamins to promote healthier eyes and possibly slow down progression of m.c., not cure it. Anything that helps. Mine started in my mid-sixties, but Mom was in her mid-seventies when hers started. So I, unfortunately, have an earlier start on this, so I started these immediately and have not noticed any significant changes in the last 3 ye ars , so that seems like a positive for the Viamins. I take them, 3 capsules, 2x daily, every, always, so it can be as effective as possible. I recommend it.

Eye and Body Complete
I take this vitamin/supplement due to the fact that I have a problem with my right macula. I've been taking them for two years. They have all the vitamins recommended by doctors for eye health, plus an added bonus of being a complete multivitamin so you do not need to worry about taking any other vitamins, except maybe a fish oil capsule. Macula Complete also contains many natural ingredients such as green tea extract, grape seed extract, Co-enzyme Q10 and more. I highly recommend these vitamins to anyone concerned with eye health, and overall general health.UPDATE JULY 2016 - I have to revise my review of Biosyntrix Eye and Body Complete. The company, Biosyntrix, has run out of them and so have every one of it's distributors including Amazon. Yet they are still advertising it on the Biosyntrix website! After I placed my order with my credit card, a couple weeks later I got a phone call from their company stating that "the product is not available for a "few more weeks" due to the fact that the manufacturer is unable to obtain one of the ingredients!!! Yet at their website today, there is no mention of it's unavailability. Many people with retinal problems, either Macula Degeneration or other, depend on this formula to aid in the health of their eyes! I find this reprehensible and that it should be stated on the website.

Review for Macula Complete
My Eye Doctor recommended that I start taking these pills. They have everything in them so I don't need my vitamins any more. However, they are not easy to find in any of my local stores. The only place to get them other than my Doctor's office is over the internet.

Very good eye vitamins
Very good eye vitamins. They were suggested to me by my optometrist who had researched the best eye vitamins. If you have any eye disease in your family ie: macular degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma, etc. it would be worth visiting with your physician or optometrist about.

Good probability of reading into old age...
Just went to ophthalmologist and my eyes received a good report. Considering I show some early macular degeneration, that is always good news. I also take Bio Tears Gel Caps for Dry Eye, so I use about 1/2 the dosage for each so that I am not over-doing it (and spending money unnecessarily).

Eye care supplement
BioSyntrx Macula Complete was recommended years ago by my opthalmologist and has been recommended by other eye care professionals since due to my family history of macular degeneration. Don't know if it is the Macula Complete or not but after over a decade of taking it, the "spots" in my eyes that could possibly be precursors to macular degeneration have not grown larger. Will definitely continue with Macula Complete.

My optometrist recommended this (he used it half-and-half with another similar product but I chose this one after reading the ingredients). I take additional lutein right now (following some reading of holistic medical literature). After six or more months there's no worsening of my symptoms. It will presumably take something more to reverse macula, but this is about the best I can do for now.
