Pull and Swing Corner Unit 800-1000mm Cabinet Soft Close Integrated As Standard (800mm Cabinet, Right Handed Opening)

This has been in use less than 3 years and has failed - the system drops forwards when you open it.Itmwas 'OK' initially but never the amazing remedy to corner cupboards that it promised, and now it's useless. My mum's cheap IKEA on has lasted 10 years so I will have to get one of them.

I ordered two of these units to install in two existing corner cabinets in our kitchen. The storage space available in these cupboards consisted of the cupboard floor plus one central shelf, but my wife complained about the difficulties of accessing items which were in the blind ends.I felt confident buying Hafele as it is name well known to me and I was sure that the quality would be good – which indeed it is. The instructions are not perfect but good enough to allow anyone with competent DIY experience to fit the unit.Notwithstanding the quality, anyone considering purchasing one of these units should be aware of the following:1 The unit is advertised as fitting an 800 – 900 mm cabinet. However, the section which fits on the back wall and which must be fixed to the end panels of the cupboard, is exactly 760mm long. There is no flexibility for adjusting the length of this component (other than two spacers which can add an extra 4mm at each end) and the instructions give no advice on how to deal with a cupboard which does not exactly align with this dimension. In my case, the internal cabinet length is 850mm. I therefore ended up having to fabricate and install a vertical plank inside the cupboard as a sort of false end panel at the required position in order to be able to fix this section. This effectively reduced the internal length of the cupboard from 850mm to 760mm.2 In addition to the reduced length, as described above, the storage capacity of the four baskets, in terms of volume, is considerably less than the capacity of the shelf and floor of the unit which had been previously available. After completing the installation, therefore, I would say that only about 60% of what had previously been stored in the cupboard could fit back in.The outcome of all this was that, when my wife tried to refill the cabinet with the unit installed, she had so much stuff left over that she asked me to remove it and return the cabinet to its initial state, which I did.So, I am now returning the one unit which I did not unpack. Unfortunately (but understandably), the seller will not accept return of the unit which I installed and then removed.In summary, no issues with the quality but expect some extra fiddling required to fit it if your cupboard length does not match exactly, and be prepared to accept that the amount you can store will reduce considerably.If, after reading this review, you still would like to purchase one, I am willing to sell the one I removed at half the advertised price on Amazon plus postage.
