Cheap way to replace a lock
This is a dirt-cheap way to replace a lock. It comes with four keys too which makes it a real bargain. It is fairly simple to fit. You need a flat-headed screwdriver to undo four screws: two holding the lock casing to the door and the two holding the barrel in place. You also need a saw to cut the barrel's screws to length - or you might be able to re-use the existing screws. Unless you have a very thick door you will always have to saw the bar that comes out of the barrel to length - see picture. A junior hacksaw will do the job. That's a bit fiddly if you don't have a vice, I used mole grips to hold it. Just in case you weren't aware, you can only change the lock easily if you can open the door. If you've either lost your keys or the lock is jammed such that you can't open the door, you will either need power tools to break it apart or a locksmith.

Item delivered as described and a day or 2 earlier than quoted
Used as a like for like replacement. It comes with 4 keys (thankfully) and so no need to spend an extra fiver (or there abouts) to cut a spare one.Item was delivered 3 days earlier than anticipated and so cant complain and the price was decent.Credits to the supplier/courier of doing their job punctually.

Cheaper than buying extra keys later
Good value. Supplier posted same day as order sent.Locks don't last for ever. Better to buy a good quality unit like this, even if it's no longer made in Willenhall - cheap ones don't last even half as long as this quality. You should get 25+ years constant use.Easy to fit. (tools needed: 1 average sized screwdriver, & possibly a small metal hacksaw or pair of pliers if you have a thinnish door - such as internal quality type width).Takes no more than 5 minutes - undo 2 screws to side of internal catch with door open, unhook and then unscrew the 2 long screws that hold the old cylinder barrel. Keep ALL screws. You may have to renew internal retaining plate (2 more screws), although unlikely. Insert new barrel from outside of door. Dummy run refitting the internal catch - if it continues to sit proud of the door, compare length of metal strip with graduations scored into it with old cylinder, and cut new metal strip to same length with hacksaw, or, if your grip is good, you can use pliers to work up & down till it breaks, TAKING CARE NOT TO BEND WHOLE strip - its better to use the junior hacksaw.Reassemble everything in reverse order. Make sure it all works, then close door & distribute new keys.Feel pleased with yourself.Job done.

Lots of keys
Almost exactly the same as the one I took out so should work fine, the extra keys are a bonus.

Does the job!
Excellent item. Got it as a replacement and fitted it into an existing Yale latch block. No drama with the installation. Everything is provided and comes with a decent set of keys.
