Best Book About Storyboarding For Beginners
I have read multiple books and explanations from individuals about storyboarding. Some of the books have been used and recommended in courses. Most of them had a similar approach with a major emphasis on filmmaking or animation. But this one is probably the most insightful. What makes this book different? It is a tool for everyone. Not just students enrolled in art or film school. Not just for skilled artists. A generalist approach. It gives you an understanding of storyboarding from the perspective of a freelancer who may have experience or none. Secondly, it recognizes storyboarding in advertising and provides a 'go-to' approach which no other book I have read even addresses. The book is split into 3 parts: the fundamentals, advertising, and filmmaking. Other books I have read gives you the fundamentals, like understanding composition, camera angles, and other details. This book doesn't give you heavy details on it, but it gives you enough to help you understand the eyes of a filmmaker or director. The advertising section is the most helpful because no other book I've read addresses storyboarding for commercials and the use of a storyboard artist in advertising. Most books I touch focuses on solely on film and television only. Like before, it doesn't give you heavy details. But it points you in the right direction. Finally it into filmmaking.Overall, I highly recommend this book for honestly about anyone.

storyboard your future
Its a good and quick read on how to be a storyboard artist- different chapters on different types of storyboard jobs- what are the materials you should use and even how to charge for a job!! This is a must have for anybody that's thinking about using their drawing skills to enter into this field that according to the author, is an untapped career choice. I just didn't care much for the horizontal printing format it makes it difficult to carry around and when your finished, put on your shelf and have on the ready for a quick reference.Any ways, you visual story tellers should invest in your future by picking this one up.

ok but has flaws
This book is somehow geared toward the complete beginner who has basically never heard about storyboarding. The information is quite sparse but it's on spot.I'm giving it only 3 stars because it has many editorial errors; words are, literally, missing and some diagrams and pictures dont offer sufficient explanation imho.I found it somehow strange because i have close to 15 books wich are published by MWP and are all very well edited but this one, i have a feeling, it was throughly rushed. It's still good as an easy introduction to the craft.

Overly Simple... Not Enough on Process & Mechanics
I suppose this is fine for someone who has next to no concept of the industry. I guess my education in sequential art rendered most of the info "no-brainer" type stuff. I was really hoping for a closer look at the actual mechanics, work flow, process, language, logistics, etc of actually creating the storyboards themselves. The other info is good. But like I said, just a little too obvious.

A great read, walking me through how the industry works and certain do's and don't of establishing boards.made me confident enough to start creating my own storyboards again. Some words are missing unfortunately and sometimes some paragraphs end abruptly maknig one think that there was more to be said.however These were few and far inbetween. He also has another book called the 'Storyboard Design Course: The ultimate guide..' while I have yet to read this one, from a glimpse it is somewhat exactly the same as this book. I would hardly call it a course. so as this one is more recent I'd say to buy this.It may be a bit premature for me to say that not having read it, but from reading this book I have not found the need to read the second.one thing I would say is for those wanted to learn storyboarding, it is a good idea to take scenes from films you like and sketch them out in key sequences and labling what kind of shot it is and what the camera is doing(pan, dolly, cam shake etc) to aquint yourself better with cinematography and to also influence your own shots.

My thoughts on this book...
I have actually just finished getting around to reading through this book. If you are looking for a book on how to be a storyboard artist, I do recommend Directing the Story over this one. This one touches a little of the basics but then mostly talks about the mindset of a storyboard artist to thrive in the industry more than anything. Also talks about Guiseppe's personal experiences. Still many good points are in here. But more as a secondary resource to a storyboard artist starting out then a main one.

If you are looking for a book about story boarding the other book of the same author is quite better. This one was cheap quality edition and the content mostly useless
