The Model 6000 Superior bassoon represents the latest in Puchner innovation, and is equipped with standard features that are only available as options on other bassoons. Twelve keys are made of sterling silver. On the boot joint, the F, F#, and Ab keys have been moved closer and the C sharp key is equipped with a double spatula. The Ab-Bb trill key has been designed to be multifunctional allowing trills from other notes.Puchner has placed an adjusting screw on the low Bb key which dampens the low C to create a pianissimo low E. The wing joint has an Eb key and double spatula for the high E. To create a smooth feel, gliding rollers have been used for the whisper key mechanism, low B, and low Bb keys. The pivot screws are nylon-lined.Puchner bassoons and contrabassoons are of first-class handcrafted quality in all details. Only the most durable high-quality materials for keywork are used, and the select mountain maple wood used is seasoned for about 18 years and then undergoes a special wood treatment, which responds well to extreme climates.
