Great book about the history of the film industry and horses
Very informative. Unlike a novel, easy to start and stop. Answered all my questions on how they madeMr. Ed talk.

Only a Partial History
Book missed Myers & Wills, High Chaparral, etc. Very disappointing - and some of what was written was incorrect.

Fantastic Book! Doesn't cover all of the Western Stars horses, but a lot of interesting history and names behind the horses in this book!

The Never Ending Book - I hope
I believe that as long as movies are made, there will be new issues of "Hollywood Hoofbeats". How else to keep up with the new movies ("Django Unchained," "The Lone Ranger (with Johnny Depp as Tonto!) and many others - and how else to get an in depth look at more and more of the older films, as Patrine Day Mitchum digs into the research on everything from "Ben Hur" to "Spartacus" to some singing cowboy of the 40s -- and his horse, of course. Mitchum, a dedicated horsewoman, brings her admiration and love of these beautiful animal actors, with their great hearts and smarts, to every page. Ten years from now I hope I'm writing a review of reissue no. 5, and have all those behind-the-scenes stories lining my shelf.

Notes from a Fan of Trigger, Champion, Silver, etc......
When I was nine years old, I wrote a fan letter to Trigger, and added Roy's name so he wouldn't feel slighted. It was definitely Trigger who was the object of my affections, and my fascination for the movie horse has never abated. This book is everything I hoped it would be and more. The many, many photos are wonderful and bring back fond memories, and the text is fascinating. Petrine Mitchum and Audrey Pavia have done an incredible job of compiling information. This is one of my all-time favorite horse books. I reviewed it on my "Horsetalk" radio show, and know of several listeners who couldn't wait to buy it for themselves. They were not disappointed!

Hollywood hoofbeats
This book is well writen and fun to read. Petrine day Mitchum was raised around horses at her father Robert's ranch. Her research is extensive and covers many of the great horses like Cocaine, Rex and others from the very beginings of the movies to War Horse and beyond.

fabulous book - grab it when it's in stock
As a recently published author of a much more modest (e)book about the Horse in Film, I really recommend this book. I know only too well how costly it is to include such photos (not just the printing but the copyrights too) and these pictures are truly fantastic. Petrine Day Mitchum's insights from the worlds of both the horse and film are unique. Lights! Camera! Gallop! The story of the horse in filmLights! Camera! Gallop! The story of the horse in film
