Waiting For You
My Thoughts: I am a huge fan of Colasanti. I won't lie, I've heard a lot of people rave about her while others disagree with me on how great her books are. We are introduced to Marisa who is quiet but she feels this is the year that could all change. She wants to be more witty, more outgoing, and she wants to date someone. She's never had a real boyfriend and that is what she is determined to get. She finally gets Derek to notice her (of course its after he dumps his popular girlfriend) but hey beggers can't be choosers right? Marisa starts a relationship with Derek while she gets paired up in class with Nash, an old friend. He also lives next store to Marisa but she hasn't really talked to him in years.Marisa shouldn't be having second thoughts about Derek. She is finally with him so she thinks she needs to be happy. But all she can think about is Nash. The way he listens to her, the way he understands her. She has an anxiety disorder and she tells Nash about it and he understands and is there for her.Enter guy 3 into the story. He is a local DJ and nobody knows his identity. Marisa listens to him on the radio every chance she gets. She enjoys him. She enjoys his advice. He's a real guy.Marisa also has a friend named Sterling. Sterling is a good friend to Marisa but she's always dating the wrong guys. She tends to like them older. She is seen dating a few different guys throughout the story.I was a big fan of Nash throughout the book. He seems like a nice guy. The kind of guy I would take notice in.So, who does Marisa end up with? Nash, Derek, mystery DJ?Overall: Loved it. One of my favorite Colsanti book's.Cover: Its really romantic. The way they are sitting on the dock. I like his glasses and the way her hair is in a ponytail. The cover also relates to the story, which does not happen much anymore. Usually the cover is way off base! What I'd Give It: 4/5 CupcakesTaken From Princess BookieHardcover Edition

Good But Bad At The Same Time
I liked this book but at the same time I didnt like this book. I found it hard to connect with the main character. It was very predictable and because of this it made the book since very long. It felt like the main character Marissa was just not quite all the way written. She had a problem with anxiety but never really went into it so I wonder if the author did any research on social anxiety, or maybe just didnt want it to be the main focus. If that was the case it shouldnt have been the excuse of Marissas everytime she didnt go through with something.Marissa and Sterling are best friends and are starting a new year of High School with plans to better themselves. They want boyfriends. Its the typical 'best friends in high school wants a boyfriend but only one gets one and the other is jealous' teen story. Along the way Marissa experiences some family drama as well and it would have been nice to go more into that since it makes Marissa severly depressed.I liked this book enough to want to read more and get to what I knew was going to already happen, but I found myself growing impatient when it took too long to get there.

Cute but Random
It's a cute story but it felt like she wasn't finishing her thoughts. It's like I would be reading the book and get into a part I liked but then it would move on to something else. The chapter would end right in the middle of something good happening...I would be all like "but how did he act when she said that?" Or she would be talking about something that happened with a boy then just start talking about her problems last year...and I was all like okay that was kind of random. And thats how the whole book goes....but it's still cute.

Loved It!
I really liked this book. It was a great love story about finding the person you deserve. And knowing love is always there. I would recommend this book for anyone I really liked it and I'm sure that if you read it too, you might but I can't say for sure because everyone has their opinions and there's nothing you can do about it. If you like stories about waiting until you find The One, then this is the book for you

Honestly real
A very true depiction, but not an extremely sad one, of a teen with anxiety/depression. A beautiful love story that's been unrivaled with the many I've read. One of her best books

Waiting for You
Waiting for You begins just as Marisa is about to start her sophomore year at school which means for her, a brand new start. She loves reinventing herself every year and trying to become the person she wants to be. While I did think this was a lovely and brave idea, it did also seem that she just wanted to fit in with whatever was happening each year. Marisa seemed like a nice enough girl, and a pretty normal teenager but I just didn't warm to her very much. She came across as a bit of a sheep, only wanting what others had and not being herself a lot of the time. There were, however, some good secondary characters though who made things more interesting. Marisa's best friend Sterling was a great character to read about because she had a wonderful personality, loads of unique aspects to her and generally pretty fun. The next door neighbour, Nash, was also a good character who was very different to Marisa and the popular guy love interest, Derek. I kind of wish that Sterling had been the protagonist in this book instead of Marisa because she was far more interesting to read about.I hate to say it but the plot was extremely bland for me for the most part. Waiting for You is pretty much the story of Marisa deciding which boy to choose. There is very little chemistry between her and her love interest, nor is their relationship believable. I didn't understand Marisa's choices other than the fact that she thought Derek was hot which is definitely not enough to go on. There are a few problems that Marisa encounters along the way though which are supposed to spice things up a bit and make the plot more interesting but for me, these things felt like page fillers and they weren't really needed. Also, the whole underground DJ aspect to the book bugged the hell out of me. Honestly, it read like a written rip-off of the film Pump Up The Volume but for a younger audience. Even the kinds of advice the DJ gives and the things he talks about are similar to things that happen in the film. Pump Up The Volume is one of my all-time favourite films and I felt a bit cheated by having to read something so similar and not at all unique. I think that this DJ idea could have been used and done well if it wasn't so similar to something that already exists.I really wanted to enjoy this book but the plot was quite non-existent and the protagonist a bit boring.

"I'd rather be weird and happy than normal and miserable."
