I have an umbilical hernia that was fixed last year and then recurred, much larger and more bothersome than before. Just standing up and walking around, it protrudes and aches. I have to manually reduce it, constantly. Pending re-do surgical repair, I bought this product. It is elastic with large velcro straps. It fits around my waist snugly, depending on how tight I make it. You have to find just the right amount of tightness for it to be effective, and not cause side effects of its own. At the right tightness, it allows me to make it through a busy day, without pain/ache from the hernia protruding. If you make it too tight, however, it can cause some minor breathing difficulties (shallow breaths), as well as acid reflux after a meal. I live in warm California weather, so it can get sweaty and scratchy when I wear it. So I put on a t-shirt first and then put the hernia belt on over the t-shirt, which eliminates the scratchiness. Then my regular dress shirt & tie. By the way it also comes with a hard plastic shell-like structure, which is adjustable, and apparently is meant to further "push in" against the hernia protruding. I found it a little excessive and painful, so I just unsnapped it and removed it. The belt, on its own, works just fine at keeping the hernia from becoming symptomatic, during daytime work hours. Looking forward to getting the hernia repaired...

Fits well

The belt really needs two people to put on, but I have that available. The belt has a hard (covered) "bulge" that exerts pressure on or near the protrusion, presumably to keep it from protruding. The belt is helpful, but by no means a permanent fix. My umbilical hernia allows a relatively small protrusion of intestine when I am standing. My hope was that the belt would keep it from protruding at all. This seems impossible, since I cannot put the belt on without being in a standing position. What it does do, is to support my abdomen in general, and perhaps keep the protrusion to a minimum, or from protruding further and further. The belt came with little instruction. The belt is comfortable to wear, and provides firm support. It is comfortable for me to wear all day, although of course I am constantly aware that it is on. For several reasons I am not able to have the hernia repair surgery right away. The belt hopefully will give me necessary time before surgery. I would recommend it for that purpose.After wearing the belt for a year! I admire it's longevity and continued relief. The material eventually will curl at my hips, and get wavy from use, but the pressure never varies. I am ordering another one for smoothness sake, as other surgeries have taken precedence over the hernia, and I think one healing at a time is prudent. I would bump this product up to 5 stars!

I really wanted to love this and it was OK for a couple months. It's nice and lightweight great for every day wear, the compression was good I mean you want to be able to still breathe, it's nice, it's really a nice stretchable material. The size is good, so why 3☆ well, it came down to the velcro. While it did hold and it still does, it ripped at the seam within a couple of months making it unusable, once it ripped apart it offered no support and anyone who suffers with an abdominal hernia knows the importance of support. So I don't think I will purchase this again I don't find it to be a good value for the cost.

I have an umbilical hernia for a few years now and I am still able to push it back in. It gets tender or sore because it pops out and makes the hernia painful. This belt keeps it in all day after working, walking, sneezing, coughing,or doing whatever. I had the belt for a week now and really love it. My belly button has not been popping out since I got the belt. I just wear it under my shirt. Some reviews said something about difficulties put it on. Not at all!! The cone thingy has velcro on it so you can adjust it to were ever on the belt you like. Put it on is easy. The ends of the belt overlap to attach, so I put it on with the ends in front of me and attach the velcro to how ever tight you are comfortable with. Then I suck in my gut ( lol! ) and spin it counter clockwise so the end that is underneath does not bunch up, and the velcro connection is over my back and the cone is inplace over my belly button. I will feel snug, It will hug you, and but it is comfortable. I wear mine all day does not bother me all. I have not felt any pain from my hernia since putting this on. I wash mine in warm/cold water and rinse in cold. then roll in dry towel to get extra moisture off. Then hang up on hanger to dry overnight. Should be dry next morning ready to wear. Only con that I can think of is it does not hide my beer gut!! Lo!! It forms to your body pretty well. Absolutely love it!!

This was the belt my surgeon suggested post hernia operation and I was to be in it and sleep in it for 6 weeks. By day 4 of wear, it became so bunchy and wrinkled, I couldn't wear it other than to sleep. The structure of the belt was totally compromised. You also can't wear it against bare skin. I wish I had read other reviews before purchasing.

COMFORTABLE HERNIA BELT WITH ADJUSTBLE LENGTH.

The belt is as comfortable as an item that's designed to do what this belt does can be.It has a moveable pressure pad that you adjust to push right where the hernia protrudes, in my case, my belly button and it really helps keep things in check. I wear mine against my skin under my shirt when leaving the house and it's almost completely un noticable. Around the house I wear it over a shirt as it's more comfortable that way. Mine is a bit larger than expected, but there's quite a bit of adjustment so be sure to measure as they recommend and don't just go by your jeans size.I purchased this belt to help me get to my surgery date safely & as comfortably as possible. That said, my operation can't come soon enough.
