Grand Tour: The Worldly Projects of Studio Peregalli

Hold Your Breath..From Toxic Fumes
While this design duo is legendary and the book has, of course, some interesting projects...the production value was from someone who thought it better to create "mystery" than actually present things in a visible way. It's all very arty and dark and musty looking - which makes one project run into the other. The worst thing about this book is the photography and printing. Love the contributions here and there of written word. Although this was apparently "printed in Italy", they must have imported toxic printing techniques from China (which is, no joke, choke worthy when you first open the book) along with paper that couldn't really take, it seems, quality print dye. This is what happens when someone derails a potentially exquisite book project by trying so hard to be different.

poor quality dark photos
not sure why Rizzoli made the decision to use matt finish newsprint paper for this? this could have been an exceptional book, but because of the paper used - and the matt finish - it's like looking at color photos on a newspaper.. completely unsatisfying... colossal fail..

Not what I expected. The paper stock makes the images difficult to view.
I have bookcases of interior design and architecture books. In all of them there is no difficulty in viewing the images. This book looked as if a lot of care was put into it but who on earth chose the eye straining fuzzy paper stock? I have not returned a book of this kind before. I knew it was a "no go" immediately. I am sure the images were beautiful but I could not tell.

Expensive, but probably worth it.
Like the second or third of the Mongiardino books, more than half the projects are in their first book, Invention of the Past. They are photographed differently, but in a gimmicky way. For such an overpriced book, all the "Grand Tour" research photos pad out the length, and give the impression that the Studio Peregalli team designed these things, which they did not. Still, this is a sumptuous book, and an upclose look at the incomparable work of this brilliant design team.

Beautiful book from elegant interior decorators
This is a stunning wish book of the most elegant, visually gorgeous rooms one could ever want to live in orreplicate. It's an expensive book, but if you're going to spend, this is the interior design book to spend it on.

Wow and wow !
This is a magnificent work ! Its an investement that pays as it is so full of incredible photos, not of polished neat houses but lived in layered and sometimes crumbly homes, a dream !

Wonderful Designers
It's a book that captures the mood of these talented designers. Do wish there was more insight into their process.
