Works great when it wants to
Right out of the box it worked and work very well. The problem is that it doesn’t stay calibrated for very long. I use it 3x a week and trusted it’s readings at first. Found out the hard way that it starts to drift after 3-4 uses. At this point I Need to recalibrate it before every use which is very time consuming.

Accurate
Device works well. It comes with three powders to make buffer solution to calibrate. Using just one buffer solution will give you an accuracy of 0.1 (which is good enough for my hydroponics garden) and if you calibrate with all three it gives you an accuracy of 0.01. The price is right too, at my local hydroponics store they were charging almost triple for a similar tester.

Does a good job, can be a bit finicky.
So you gotta make sure you use this thing frequently, or it gets really wacky. I finally figured out that if I haven't used it in a while (and maybe if the manufacturer's reading this, they can chime in) it'll not want to work. I tried calibrating it, but it wouldn't hold the numbers. I tried taking the battery out, and putting it back in, then trying again... No go. I tried all three levels of calibration (3 points listed on the thing. Check instructions) and immediately after finishing the meter was jumping all over the place and giving garbage readings on the buffer solutions. I decided to just soak it in some distilled water while I went and checked online for solutions (heh... no pun intended.) but nobody seemed to have the same issue. When I came back I turned it on, and the reading was stable. I thought "Huh... Neat." then I calibrated it again on all 3 points. After this calibration, I went back and rinsed with distilled water, and tested all 3 again. Spot on, with a fast read. So I guess if you've got this thing, and it's giving you some trouble: Try soaking the probe (not the whole meter, obviously... Just basically what the cap covers) in distilled water for a few minutes, then try again. Worked for me, but your mileage may vary.

First one dead in one day
First, I would like to point out BEFORE people buy this that it comes with single use packets of of calibration solution only good for ONE calibration, but the directions say it should be done more often for regular use. It also does not come with storage solution. So unless you are going to use it daily, the sensor will dry out and ruin it. MY FIRST ONE: I calibrated it immediately. It worked fine for the entire first day. Next morning when I needed to test again, the digital numbers were spazzing out from .001 to .009 really fast. I immediately submerged it into plain tap water, hoping to reset it. It went straight to 0000. My tap water is exactly 7.8, and has been for 20 years, so it's a good indicator of accuracy. I tried testing a variety of other waters. Most gave me 0000, and a couple would test at 2.14ish, which were clearly not that ph, but the number would also not stablize. And on retest would go back to 0000. I asked for a replacement and will update when I get it. UPDATE: The replacement lasted a few days longer and then went haywire bouncing around above PH 10 no matter the liquid. It would not calibrate and just gave error messages on every attempt.

Accurate AF. Saves time and money and frustration
Get this if you need to make sure your nutrients are at the right PH. Its accurate as they get, much more so that soil tester or liquid tests. These are down to the hundredths place accurate. It also comes with a calibration kit if you needed. Mine is only off by .01 out of the box, so i dont bother with it. Its close enough for the application i have. And if i need to calibrate it one day, i have everything i need to do that. I love the little case it comes with, very convenient. Instructions are clear and the operation of the device is mostly intuitive.

Batteries may be DOA UPDATE
It took a couple weeks to arrive. When it finally showed up, the batteries were dead. Or so I'd hoped. So I rushed out into the Christmas crowds to try to find LR 44 button batteries. Oddly, none of the packages of button batteries say LR 44 on the front, so you have to read the backs for compatibility. Energizer refers to these as 357, and charges around $8 for three (you only need two).I made it home expecting new batteries to be a waste of time, but lo and behold, it worked. So I tested my tap water: 7.5. Added a couple drops of lemon juice, stirred it up, tested: 4.3. Whoa! So tried it again, with just a drop of watered down lemon juice, and got my pH down to a nice 6.1. So I'm off and running. Hopefully this continues to work out.Things of note:The battery polarity is tough to see, it could be better marked. If I tilted it the right way under a light, it became apparent which side was positive. The manual refers to an IMMERSION LINE, but shows no such line on the unit itself, but gives a sort of vague general area where that might be in the USAGE METHOD section. I just used the top of the notch as my guide and assumed it should be dipped lower than that. Hopefully, that's fine.UPDATE: After my initial battery issue above, I was able to test the device. It hasn't worked since that first use. I absolutely cannot get this device to turn back on, even with replacing the batteries yet again. I'm not sure if I have a defective unit, or if this thing just eats batteries. At $8 per use (the cost of a set of batteries), I can't afford to keep using it.

Ph tester for my kombucha
This is the 2nd of these that I have purchased. I like to test my booch before decanting to assure myself that the ph is at a low enough level to be safe. It is extremely easy to use. I only have to put it into the liquid then turn it on.I did have to purchase a new one this year after having used my first one weekly for 2 years. I didn't try new batteries for the old. The new one was inexpensive enough to go with and not take a chance that the batteries were the issue.

PH meter of the future
I got this ph meter cause i had a crap Milwaukee brand. This one i fell in love when i saw that it had the automatic on function differing from the one that i replaced where i had to hold it down constantly and angling my hand all weird. This one is designed well and thought out. I'm glad it doesn't shut off immediately where I can go around taking in different ph levels effortless. Had it about a month and it's working as when bought.
