A beautiful Poetry book for children
Joseph Coelho’s A Year of Nature Poems is a delightful introduction to the world of poetry for young readers. As a teacher working with upper KS2 children in the UK, I find this collection to be an invaluable resource in demonstrating how rich, evocative language can capture the beauty of nature. Each poem is imbued with poignant imagery that transforms everyday natural scenes into vivid canvases of colour and emotion. The language is both accessible and lyrical, making it easy for children to engage with and appreciate the depth of expression. The accompanying illustrations complement the poems perfectly; they are not only beautifully drawn but also capture the essence of each verse, thereby enriching the overall reading experience. This book stands out as a perfect blend of art and literature, making it a must-have for both parents and educators. It offers a multifaceted approach to learning, where children can explore the wonders of nature while developing an appreciation for poetic expression.

Gorgeous poems about the months so beautifully written

Not suitable for children.
I gave 2 stars for the illustrations alone. The poems are not suitable for children under 12, they would be unable up understand most of them and some of the writing is most definitely unsuitable for them. A real disappointment.

Not what I expected
Not at all as expected. Wanted a gift for my mother but this seemed to be more of an older child's book. Very short. Illustration is nice but more suited to children. Missed the opportunity to return it so will probably re-sell as I don't think it is suitable for gifting.

Not for a young child, very strange poems
My 5 yr old was gifted this, and we love the illustrations, but the poetry is unsuitable for a young child, a lot of it, quite frankly, wasn’t particularly poetic - not what you would expect for poems written about the months of the year - the scope for that is unending and I expected more, but these poems were strange, quite frankly, and didn't flow or read well at all and lacked any kind of beauty or profoundness. I was amazed this made it to publication.
