Here's the scoop
I actually didn't buy this for ice cream. Instead I bought it to make potato blobbies (mounds of mashed potato put in the oven for 25 minutes... a delightful post Christmas treat). For this purpose it is perfect; far better than a dessert spoon. With this in mind, I will point out that the circumference is quite small, and for those wanting to fill an ice cream cone, a slightly larger scoop might be a more viable alternative. Having said that, for desserts in which ice cream is a side dish, or sorbet, I would say this item fits the bill quite nicely. It has a handy mechanism (affectionately known as a "plop" in my household) by which you can expel your chosen item into your chosen receptacle. This works very well, with a simple compression of a lever, which saves shaking/tapping the scoop to remove what's inside. The item itself appears to be made of a brushed steel, and is weighty enough to feel high quality. It does cost a bit more than one you might find in a supermarket, but the plop and the fact that you get a nicely rounded scoop makes it worth the extra few quid for me, personally.

Not successful for us.
It does scoop up ice cream, but the metal parts are untidily bonded, meaning there are rough areas on the handle. The lever would work better if the ice cream were solid, but it doesn't tip out the ball of ice cream if it's soft scoop, it just passes through it!

Great for left handed users
I like this ice cream scoop. It's easy to use and does what you need it to. I'm left handed and like that the trigger release button is easy for me to operate. The scoop is a good size for ice cream, meat balls, and cookies. I docked a star because I have cut myself on the rim (which is a bit sharp) of the scoop whilst washing it up. The part that pushes the ice cream out is a bit fiddly to clean underneath. Other than that I like it and am just more careful whilst washing it.

Would not recommend
The handle edges are sharp and dig into the palm. Probably great on very soft ice cream but u/s on frozen ice crean purchased fro a supermarket and kept in the freezer. The stars given are high

Not for FROZEN ice cream
They did forgot to tell you to use it only for melted ice cream. The 2 small welding dots can't hold it together for long. And the dots got obviously rusty so quickly.... One star is still way toooo much.

Ice cream scoop
Big improvement over the desert spoon for scooping ice-cream. It feels sturdy, but has a pretty thin edge at the ball which lets it cut through the ice cream really easily and makes neat ice-cream balls.Personally I like having the button for ejecting the balls once done - however it is a moving part that could get damaged or gummed up so I've been taking care to clean it immediately after use and this seems to be keeping it going .

Not easy to hold
I am not sure about the grip on this scoop and would have liked some rubber bits to hold on better. Also, when it is used, it is not easy to remove the ice cream in a clean scoop onto a bowl. It isn’t easy to clean. Not sure I would recommend.

Over-designed, and badly designed
A huge fiddle to clean hygienically, which is extremely important with ice cream. For too many parts to it, bits you can't clean thoroughly, etc.The shape has no indents, meaning that getting purchase on the ice cream is difficult. So difficult that it's going to the charity shop and I'm having to buy another scoop! Also, why on earth is it tightly wrapped in layers of cling film?! I almost cut my hand trying to get into it!
