Carla has hit the ball out of the park with this cookbook. It's like having your Grandma's favorite recipes written down in detail and kicked up a notch! The exotic seasonings she recommends make simple recipes gourmet. Comfort food made healthy. Quick and easy to cook during the weekdays. Thanks, Carla loved the stories that went along with the dishes. Loved hearing about the people you met and cooked with. And I really enjoyed you taking me with me on your travels through this book! Great book!

I've tried several of Carla's recipes. All were wonderful. For the first time I made a pie crust that was edible.

Carla Hall's Soul Food: Everyday & Celebration Cookbook is a well thought out, easy to follow welcoming, personable cookbook that feels like you're cooking, celebrating, and visiting with a sister or a close friend.

Wish I would have discovered it sooner! But perfect for my recent transition to a plant based diet. Just made the Seared Summer Squash w/ Sage; it is so delicious and perfect that I was moved to immediately create this review. Made the Mixed Greens w/Smoked Trout Pot Likker yesterday, what a cool and creative and yummily healthy twist on collards. Going to try the Black-Eyed Pea Hummus tomorrow. This is a special cookbook, it’s intelligent and creative with tons of intelligent and creative recipes. I need to also add that I greatly appreciate the concept of “celebration dishes” as dishes reserved for holidays, gatherings, and parties. So thankful for this cookbook.

This cookbook arrived in excellent condition. Looks just like new. I bought it because of one recipe I found on line, and I really like it so far because it has unusual yet simple recipes, and nice stories to go with them.

I loved Carla Hall ever since she was a contestant on Top Chef. She was always gracious and funny. I have enjoyed watching her on TV. I had purchased the cookbook because it was Carla's and I'm glad I did. Almost every recipe comes with a small story, every recipe looks so delicious, I love the pictures and everything looks so easy to cook. I love that I don't have to buy any fancy ingredients our equipment, the recipes are just good soul food. Thank you Carla for a wonderful cookbook.

I haven't cooked any of the recipes yet but I have gone through the entire book and I see many things that appeal to us. I love Carla Hall and her humor and integrity so I know I will get good use out of her recipes. Nice pictures, recipes are not too complicated... I like the book very much.

Highly recommend this cookbook! My fave recipes are the Brown Sugar Chicken & Sweet Potato Pie. If you like to host parties, each meal is categorized by Celebration & Everyday recipes

I loved this book. If you follow Carla Hall on social media or watched the Chew you will love this book. Carla is not only a super chef but also an educator and both loves shine in this book.

Love the soulful feel of this cook book. Recipes are simple and delicious.
