I'm not sure why my experience is so different from others', but I've had this for a few weeks now and am disappointed in its ability to keep out water. It does not appear to take on water when it rains, but rain water pools on the lid and then when it is opened, the water slides down the back and into the joint running across the base. Water then pools in a groove at the bottom of the unit (inside), where it is slow to dry (shown, less than clearly, in the second picture). I now have to wait for the top to dry after it rains before taking out my cushions, which sometimes means I can't always enjoy my patio furniture even when it's not raining. I guess I could have a towel out there to dry it off, or I could get a cover for it, but that sort of defeats the purpose. Annoying. Plus, it doesn't make me feel great about how waterproof it will be in snow (even if covered), as water can clearly get it through the joint running the full circumference of the unit just about an inch from the bottom.

These assembled very easily. Matched our existing rattan furniture which I am so happy about. Price was very good. Living in Washington we we're worried about water getting in, so far it's all dry.

Very easy to put together, the perfect size to store my cushions for a table for 4 with each chair having 2 large cushion. it seems to be very durable. I looked along time for a box just the right size, not too large and not too small for storage for my cushions, and it's a plus that it is sturdy enough to hold a person 170 lbs. or less for a little additional seating if needed.

I relied on seller response to a customer that the storage bin is waterproof. It definitely is not. Specifically, where all four sides of the unit snaps into the base, there is a gap that varies in size, up to 1/8 inch in some places. Water drips down into the base and does not drain out. I have caulked along the entire base to address the issue, but it's not very attractive and too early to know if the caulk works as a long term solution. If you need waterproof storage, this is not the right product.

Box is just what was described. Putting it together was not too bad. The basic box took all of 60 seconds to assemble but the cover took a little longer. There are several "J" hooks that must be attached that were tricky to use. I was doing it by myself and I guess an extra set of hands would have helped.The box is attractive looking and so far has kept everything dry inside despite the heavy rains we have had this past week. I am not sure I will get the 20 years that my old boxes gave me. Check with me in 20!I do not need a lock but I put a little "S" hook to keep it closed. That should do the trick.

Credit where credit is due as far as its ability to hold up in California weather, but it’s not as waterproof as it claims and several years out I’m now panicking about taking it apart as I deal with a move.A HUGE warning to anyone purchasing this- it’s a good bargain, but it’s IMPOSSIBLE to take apart. If you assemble it the wrong way- game over, you’ll likely break it trying to have it come apart. I’ve tried to take it apart on my own- no luck.

Very sturdy storage bench with more room than I expected on the inside. My teen boys easily put this together for me and we are able to toss all their outside sports equipment and toys in this after they brought everything outside. They can pull it out and throw it back in when they are done, I just love it! It makes my life so much easier and it keeps my back deck looking neat and tidy! Win Win!! Love it!

Spend your money on a different storage box. I wouldn’t feel so bad if this box didn’t cost so much, but it’s not worth the price at all. All of the negative reviews on the box are true. The box looks good once it’s assembled but it is cheaply made, it’s definitely not waterproof, especially on the side where the panels connect, no don’t sit on it, it’s not strong enough. I haven’t placed it outside yet because I’m going to put some type of sealant on the inside and hopefully that will help to keep water out. I will be looking for a better storage container, even if I have to pay more.
