Wolves of the Beyond;Shadow Wolf
I liked this book because it made me feel hopeless, watching as wolves abuse Faolan, and It gives me a thrill to see how this clever wolf with a terrible past escapes. WARNING, THE FOLLOWING INCLUDES SPOILERS: A wolf named Faolan was raised by a bear, and was a malcadh, or a deformed pup, so his blood would soil the packs clean blood. To get rid of him an obea, a wolf who takes deformed pups to a tummfrey, or death spot, takes Faolan and leaves him by the river where he will surely drown. Instead he is rescued and raised by a bear, who later on dies. Faolan meets an owl who tells him to join a pack and he does. This is where the story starts.Faolan is a gnaw wolf, the lowest of the pack. He must writh in dirt when a higher rank wolf comes along, and is greatly abused by packmates,on top of that, a wolf named Heep is nothing but trouble. Soon Faolan finds out that a wolf pup, a malcadh, was murdered before it could peacefully die. The pup died painfully and whichever wolf killed the pup violated the law. As soon as Faolan finds the answers, Heep accuses him of killing the pup, will Faolan's evidence be enough to keep him from being, literally, pulled apart by his packmates? Find out in this book.I would recommend this book to ages 12 and up, this book has a curse word in it, violence, and confusing scenes....nothing too inappropriate.

Love it!
I enjoyed this book because it was interesting to know more about Faolan. It was also very touching to see The Sark and Gwynneth stand up for Faolan at the last part. I was fascinated that Dearlea and Mharie helped him too. Faolan is a kind wolf, that's why when Heep ran away, he hoped the bygriss would not catch him. How nice of Faolan, he definitely would have a lot of friends standing up for him. I really recommend this book. It was fabulous and gave me company when I first read it. I hope you would enjoy it as much as I do. (sorry if I misspelled any words or names)

5 stars! Easy to read. 6th grade reading level.
I purchased for my daughter when she was in 6th grade. She loved the book so much her teacher allowed her to read it as a leveled book for her reading class. It is book one in a series- we will be purchasing more.

Realistic and fun
This book is very realistic in the way wolves act, and a fun story to learn about wolves and other animals. It is also a sad and dramatic story line included.

Continues the story and develops characters
I know that some reviewers have questioned the vocabulary and the ability of students to read the book because of its use of wolf and owl language. I do not believe that the words in these languages are all that difficult to decode, and it is, after all, an AR 5.8 book. In fact, I believe that Dahl's BFG is much more difficult for students to decode because of the way it corrupts words we use everyday.I bought this series hoping to engage reluctant readers--and their parents--in a reading program. So far, I've been able to convince one parent to start reading book one aloud. Now, I'm waiting to see if I can hook the kids!

Shadow Wolf
Just as I said, I read the next installment of the Wolves of the Beyond, and I was not disappointed. Once again, vocabulary learning wise it was poor, but it did everything else a book should do! Intriguing, cleverly plotted, tense, emotional, continuously dragging you from your supposedly sleepful nights into the excitement of the story making you forget you should have gone to sleep hours ago! Foalin certainly has had to adapt to new things in this book, and you're there with him hoping he adapts but doesn't lose who he is as well. And the framing of the MURDER! This book was a brilliant second installment. Waiting for the delivery of the third and fourth. I hope you buy the series because I tell you, it is excellent!

Astonishing
Even more touching and nail-bitting then the first book of Wolves of the Beyond! Faolan is trying prove himself for the Sacred Watch, but a wolf named Heep becomes jealous of Faolan. Heep was a treacherous and prideful gnaw wolf from the start, going as far as murdering an innocent pup and blaming the murder on Faolan to get him out of the way. Will he succeed in sending Faolan to a torturing, slow and agonizing death..? Find out for yourself by buying this book today!
