Needed clear directions
This was for a class I was taking in graphic animation. It was a decent book but could have been clearer in how to arrange and move items, especially how to end the project.I spent a lot of time (over and over again) following the steps of what to do. Needs clear information.

Well done manual for a Flash newbee
I am new to Flash and had to master it's animation techniques for a website production in a very short amount of time. This is one of five manuals I purchased to try and boot camp myself into at least a proficiency in Flash. I found this book to be the clearest, most easily understood text out of the five. I worked through the book from start to finish and also completed the "Missing Manual CD" downloads that came with the book. The author is careful to describe fully the procedures he wants the student to follow and creates an environment where the student can examine and appreciate the power and options that are inherent in Flash. The exercises took me from very basic to advanced techniques, and I appreciated the author's humorous tone which kept the material interesting.

Best series to learn Adobe
I found the Missing Manual series while learning Dreamweaver CS5. After trying the Adobe "Classroom in a Book" series, I was extremely frustrated with the program. The Missing Manual series breaks down and explains the commands, the tools and gives you a clear workflow on your projects. I've only started on the Flash CS5 MM, but it seems it's the same great learning tool Dreamweaver's MM was. I'm going to refresh my learning with Photoshop & InDesign's MM after completing this book. A must for really learning how to use Adobe's great products.

"Flash CS5 The Missing Manual" Nothing missing in this manual
Cant't figure it out? Use the missing manual series for your product points. The CS5 Flash Missing Manual is comprehensive and detailed. You can become more than a beginer after studying and following the instructions in these manuals. Wow... my flash projects are professional looking and I'm looking foward to advancing in my skills thanks to the "MISSING MANUAL" series.Dale.....

Very Helpful...
This is a good book for learning to use Flash. I was taking a course that was using CS5 Classroom in a Book. I added this book with it to really get a better overall feel for Flash.

Good for beginners
This book is awesome sauce for beginners; but if you know what you're doing already, not so much. Don't know about missing manual but it's kinda useful as reference. I like the green cover. It's cool. Enjoy.

Not impressed
I've used the Hands on Training/Lynda books when learning photoshop, dreamweaver, and illustrator. Years ago I dropped a flash class in college and they were using a HOT book. Now it is years later and I am taking that flash course again and they are using this book. I hate it. It's boring, there is no color, and the book is not clear on using start files. It will start by saying to select several frames but never tell you to open a sample document. It skips steps and is difficult to follow.

Excellant
Would definitely recommend to anyone who has never used Flash CS5 before (and some that have). It's even quite humorous. I'm a huge fan of 'The Missing Manual' range and will continue to be as long as they continue to release such good informative books like this one. It is also a good reference book. I continue to use this book even though my educational purposes (mature student) have finished for this year. This book also helps me at work too.
