The Complicated Roof - a cut and stack workbook: Companion Guide to "A Roof Cutters Secrets"

If you are like me and learning to frame roof systems, certain parts of Will's book, Roof Cutters Secrets, may seem overwhelming and confusing. This workbook teaches you to perform calculations, clarifies confusing topics and explains details not mentioned in depth in the book. To the reviewer that complains of only two roofs as examples; did you read the preface where Will explained that these two roofs were among the most challenging of his lifetime? Are there scenarios on roofs you frame that aren't covered somewhere on these two roofs? Maybe, but for most people and most roofs every scenario is covered. I'm not sure where you can find this level of knowledge and opportunity to learn in a book. The only other alternative would be to apprentice under a master carpenter for a very long time. This workbook is solid gold and I'm very grateful that Will took the time to share his experience and knowledge. People with such skills are rare and much more rare is the person willing to share it.

This book is full of info but its all about framing these 2 roofs. It is very obvious that the author is real good with a construction master calculator and it is very obvious he is an accomplished roof framer, but for me this book does not explain his method of roof framing or go into enough detail about the cuts on the rafters ect...

This book deserves 5 stars because it guides you through the thought process that Will Holliday, the greatest living roof cutter utalizes in calculating and cutting the two most challenging roofs of his carreer.* Please note this book is a companion to Will’s 1st book the revolutionary “ A Roof Cutters Secrets” and he has a series of Dvd’s to further help guide you through his process.If you aspire to be the best carpenter you can be this collection is essential.

Great book as will leads you through some very complicated roof layouts I have read and own all of Wills books

Great information. Love the roof cutters secrets. Be warned though. He says you do not need much math skills to understand this information. That’s wrong, you better know your geometry and trig to understand this.

Will's books, videos and workbook are geared toward professionals.There is an expectation of a basic working knowledge of roof cutting. This workbook is made to be used in conjunction with A Roof Cutters Secrets. If you buy just the workbook it may just confuse you.The way to figure out the answers to the problems are found in A Roof Cutters Secrets.While the roofs may seem overwhelming, most professionals realize that each roof situation should be looked at individually.I have never cut such a complicated roof but Will's book has provided the answers for me with certain unusual roof cutting situations I have come across as well as providing me with much more efficient ways of doing the tasks found on every framing job.

this book shows the process and maths of cutting a large complicated roof, like a carpenters cutting list published for your eyes and provides an insight of how the best roof framing is done, this is a partner book of 'roof cutters secrets' tho so if you dont own that, that should be your first purchase..an essential purchase nothing else like it!
